Well it had to happen at some point. The D1 I’ve spent a fortune getting sorted mechanically surprised me with some rot that I’m pretty dissappointed I didn’t spot. I can’t weld and currently don’t have the time or space to learn so have decided to go for a D2. Chassis appears solid but will be getting it inspected and treated.

Current sick rep is an ATF leak, what sounds like a warped manifold and a brake vacuum leak otherwise SLS and ACE appears to be working as it should. It’s a huge step up from the D1 and I think I’m in it for the right money to allow for some repairs - wish me luck! Some 16” pursuit wheels and my 245/75/16 MT51’s off the D1 will be going on later today. More pics when i have! For the light laning I do I’m hoping not to do too much in the way of mods to this one but we’ll see how long that lasts.....

No annoyingly I ballsed up there. I assumed the sticker meant it would have! It’s on a 52 plate, not dug around to see if it has it, from what I’ve read it sounds unlikely. It does have a rimmer bros tuning box on it, would rather replace that with a proper map at some point though.

Nice. Looks like someone has applied a bead of mastic or something on the back door gutter. Pull the trim off and check, as the roofs are known to separate there. Easily fixed with a clean up, some Tiger Seal and clamps.

Think you might find it's the paint flaking off. My daughters is the same colour and has exact same problem. Funnily enough I've seen a few D2's the same colour as yours and daughters with the exact same problem paint flaking in gutters and above windscreen.

Very nice looking motor good luck with it

As it happens it was paint, before I got it they said it had some done and I couldn’t work out what they’d done. Those were clearly the before pics as it’s all good now, thankful it’s not another job for the to do list!!!! Learning about the D2 is a bit of a mine field compared to the simple 300tdi but I’ll get there, will invest in a nanocom at some point as I expect I’ll need it if I intend to keep SLS & ACE. Getting the chassis inspected and the leak fixed will come first, it’s a really nice thing to drive so hopefully I can keep it that way.
