UK MOT pass with EGR delete.

I completely removed the entire EGR system on my D2 a couple of years ago and am pleased to say it passed its MOT last week without issue.

I tend to think that if the vehicle passes the emissions tests, the MoT tester won't be inclined to go looking for any problems in the system.

To be fair. Nox emissions are not tested for as part of the MoT. Which are the emissions EGR address.

However I suspect if you have enough other mods you can declare it as modified and be exempt to certain degree. Would need to check the wording but it exists.

Eg rally cars that no longer have air bags or sliding seats. I think if it’s removed rather than disabled is the general trend.

And of course you could swap in another engine. Td5 Disco with a Rover or LS1 V8 swap won’t have EGR either. And an MoT tester can’t fail such a vehcile for not having EGR.

Think @RustySkull meant just the emissions test. Although you are right to point out the new regs

Only way my old disco would pass the physical inspection under new regs (never an issue on emissions) with egr delete and decat was to leave a few bottles of cider on the back seat.....

I don't want to argue about it, but according to someone I know a Discovery 2 is old enough to not qualify under what ever new regs they have. Don't quote me but I think he said it's from 2006 cars onwards...

Missing or altered EGR DPFs etc are major fail regardless of age.

Emissions wise, there is a cut off age whereby the car needs to pass at the level claimed by manufacturer blah blah blah
