So, I have a nice WS hand saw for doing a little pruning when needed.

But think it may be useful to have a l'ill machete. Any recommendations??

Cheers

Gerber do a decent machete.

I have read reviews of the gerber gator and it appears the latest ones have inferior steel compared to the earlier ones, as it did look good, and I have a gerber knife that has taken a lot of abuse and is still in good condition. Did you have a particular model in mind?

Cheers
