Hi all,

After 5 years of faithful service, the time has arrived for me to reluctantly sell my Defender since I'm finding the clutch a bit too heavy for my poor old left hand knee which went under the knife earlier this year and hasn't been the same since.
I'm totally out of touch with values, though. I look through the classifieds and the variations in asking price are so big it's impossible to make any sense out of them to arrive at a fair average. That's maybe where you can help. It's a 2003 model. I'm the third owner and it's done a genuine 75k miles. Mechanically there are no issues. The engine oil and filter have been changed every 500 miles and the fully synthetic gearbox oil makes changing gear a far smoother experience than the factory rec stuff did.
The downsides are the usual rust on the doors. They're still well within repairable condition for anyone with a mig and the necessary skills, or could simply be replaced. I'm uploading a warts 'n' all selection of pictures illustrating this, to assist you in your valuations.
I'm not going to hold out for top money; just want a reasonably quick sale since I have other projects to move on to. Let me know what you think, cheers.View attachment 155578 View attachment 155578 View attachment 155579 View attachment 155578 View attachment 155579

I assume J reg plate is a private plate rather than a J reg vehicle with a TD5 in it?

Edit: just re-read 2003 Doh!

A fiver and a half-sucked Uncle Joe's Mint Ball (complete with genuine pocket fluff) and I'll even throw in a Mars Bar and a packet of Seabrooks Cheese and Onion :D
They didn't make 'em like that in '71, did they?

Stick it on ebay with an honest description and photos of the bad bits and a reserve price of the minimum you will accept and see how it goes.

I agree with @Scooby22 .. it doesn't matter what anyone on here says, it's what 'the public' will pay ... ;)

Personally I'd have said with the work that needs doing, I'd set a reserve at about £10k.

You'll get more for it selling it on the Island, but it may take longer to shift.
I like your "may" LOL! The problem here is that it's such a tiny demographic; the whole population here is no bigger than that of Tunbridge Wells. I'd be waiting for ever. Anyway, judging from the remarks here I don't think £9.5k would be an unreasonable price for a quick sale so I'll kick off with that and see how it goes....
