interesting stuff chaps, I now have a ctek mxs? on the wish list, the 10 looks brill but at c£130 the £65 5 looks more sensible

got a couple of Halfords intelligent/maintenance chargers I have had for 20 or so years, still going strong with heavy use but I don't think they do any re-conditioning and won't be anything like as sophisticated as those ctek ones

My Halfords one was so sophisticated it couldn't tell it was connected to a battery!

to be fair mine have served me well even with totally flat batteries, ones that have not long been flat though, never tried it on one that has been flat for a few months to see if it would revive it

Mines just discharged to flat in about three weeks. I think the tracker is the main culprit. It must have been completely flat though!

I used to have a cheapie tracker fitted, worked well, but it was amazing how quickly it would kill the battery, once disconnected it has been fine.

Yeah, mine is very cheap. I suspect it the main issue, but there must be other leakages somewhere.

I can leave my series 3 for months and it will still start easily, when you turn the ignition off everything is off

all the other cars go flat in 1-2 weeks

Glad it’s all sorted. I’ve had a similar issue where when left for 3/4 weeks the battery just drops enough to not let the engine fire, but part of that I think is how much juice my na needs for the glow plugs and starter. I have a lithium ion jump pack, little thing, which will jump start the Landy 3 or 4 times over if I get stuck.
