Hi browsed the forum and the search throws an error.

My L322 2006 Petrol Vogue has a broken automatic gearbox. It's at a Garage in Largs, Scotland. The garage owner came first with a price of 2000 now with a price of 3800 for a refurbished one.

He promised a price last Friday, since then I had to chase everything up.

This doesn't seem to fit with what I can find on the net. My general feeling is, that he doesn't want to do it and he generally catastrophises everything. In an unrelated repair he was catastrophising about an air suspension compressor. He says he owned RR all his life. I get one horror story after the other, he bought one and din't take the warranty and the gearbox failed etc etc.

Over the 3 1/2 years I owned the car it wasn't perfect but generally all the garages agreed it was in a good condition for the now 113k miles.

The problems started right after an oil change. The car is now not safe to drive, so needs to be towed.

One thread mentioned http://automaticgearboxrepairs.com/ to go to. This is though in Preston. I found places in London,

Are there any other places in Scotland that could do this? Monarch in Glasgow used to do refurbished but has them not listed anymore on the website.

While I do not expect it to be cheap, 3000+ was mentioned in one thread as for garages that have no experience or something like that.

You say problem started right after oil change was that the box oil and if so was it refilled with the correct oil it must be the one specked for the box not just any old ATF as the clutch packs are designed to work with one spec I believe and it is expensive so atf gets thrown in and the clutches slip.

Hi, it was done by a local garage. It was a general oil change, as was indicated to do by the computer. I don't think they would have changed the gearbox oil. Their boss drives various RR's over the years. I doubt they have no knowledge.

The garage that it is now at, is one that was recommended by an archery pal that also has a L322. But he (my friend) has less knowledge about cars than me.

My experience is that general garages usually just moan if they see a L322. The treatment funnily enough with my Porsche is a bit different. All cheer and joyful, while the L322, moany faces, "this vehicle must be soo expensive" and so on.

The main question is there anywhere were I can get that fixed maybe for 2000 and not 3800?

Prices seem to be a lot lower here:
