I have dreamed of having a Defender since the first time I ever seen one.. Being a young girl (10) and wanting to get under a landcover and getting to know every part of it is now a dream come true!
I have a series 3 (I think) Defender 110! I don't have a clue about mechanics but am looking forward to getting to know every part of it and getting it back on the road.
Recently getting married we decided to spend £500 if our wedding money on our very own defender ( my husband is not anywhere near as excited as I am as just looking at the pile of rust out the window on our drive makes me smile!
To get it started we are taking the starter off and sorting the solenoid and going to give the relay a clean too. I have seen it driving but now the old owner is not here we are struggling to get it started!! roll on the oil and mess!!!!

You have a defender 110 there.

What year is it? It may just be a Land Rover 110.

Land Rover models are as follows:

Series 1
Series 2
Series 2a
Series 3

90/110/130

Defender 90/110/130

The series vehicles are on leaf springs and the 90/110/130 and defender 90/110/130 are on coil springs.

Welcome to the forum, start a project thread and keep us updated!

Welcome!

As Flat said, there's no such thing as a series 3 defender however everyone tends to call series vehicles defenders. Some on here will not be happy with their 90/110 being called a defender either! What you've got there is a 110, it might be a defender but we can't tell unless we know how old it is.

Head over to the 90/110/130 defender section if you have any queries. That looks like it's going to be one long project but good luck with it and keep us updated on pics! It's going to be lovely when finished.

Actually the pre Defenders are properly called Ninety and One Ten etc not 90 and 110 and are badges as such, your Landy certainly has some Defender parts on it but due to the interchangeability of parts between models the best indicator will be the chassis/engine numbers.

Will be rebuilding it from a new chassis up! Its also a Defender 110 as it says on it.. 1987 I was told but I'm new so I will be learning this too!!
The guy I got it from used it as more of a spare parts shelf for the 2 of his he had on the road. As he has moved away now he no longer has access to it..
I am looking forward to some help and advice!!
Thanks for the welcome!!
