Hi guys
I've fitted a 300tdi turbo and manifolds to my disco 200tdi engine and want to know if its possible to fit a 300tdi dipstick plus tube to a disco 200tdi engine.
I know the disco 200 screws into the block but the 300 pushes in and just wondered if there is a fitting i need that screws into the 200 block to allow the 300 dipstick tube to push into, obvously i would need to make a bracket to hold the tube in place but thats another job, what do you think :)

Immaterial of whether the tube is a push fit or a screw fit, the most important dimension you must be concerned with is what the dipstick actually measures, that is the distance between the top of the dipstick tube and the level of the top of the oil in the engine.
This length would also take into account the position of the hole in the block where the tube fits, the length of the dipstick tube and also the length and markings of the dipstick itself.
Get any of that lot wrong and you could quite easily end up either under or overfilling the sump.

No the 200 was a def engine originally and the def dipstick fouls the 300 manifold so thought about fitting a disco 200 dipstick but i don't think there is enough room for the tube to go through between the manifold and have been told by someone to fit a 300 one but from what i can see the 300 is a push in fit and not a screw in fit like the 200's do

I think your first word typed should have been 'yes' shouldn't it?
Anywhoo, from memory, the 200 tube will swivel if the nut is slackened? Have you tried that, might put it in a better position?
You can carefully bend the tube as well I would have thought?
That's my limit on the situation I'm afraid:(

Yeah sorry just realised what i had put, yeah if i had some way of bending it without kinking it or damaging it in some way it would probably work but it needs to be bent right at the bottom of the tube above the nut / fitting but think i can get away with using a 300tdi dipstick and tube and re-use the original Def tube fitting and replace the O ring with an olive
