Hi Guys,

I’m about to paint my Land Rover series 3 in a green. I was wondering what the difference between grassmere, Atlantic and pastel green is and whether anyone can share photos of their Landy in those colours?
Will

Hi thanks a lot! I would like to see photo comparisons if anyone has these colours! That would be great
Will
The trouble with this is that most of us who have series landys haven't painted them for years so any pics won't really show the colour in all its glory. If you want to paint it green, go for the original bronze green with limestone roof and wheels.

Hi Col,

I would like to paint mine pastel/grassmere/Atlantic green. Can I ask, do you have to prime the whole car before painting it?

Hello,

I was just wondering if you ever figured this out. I am in exactly the same position of attempting to choose a green paint and cannot get definitive info.
My understanding so far is:
  • Pastel and light green are the same with paint code LRC005
  • Atlantic looks the same but is paint code LRC726 (even on paintman.co.uk and he specialises in this!)
  • Grassmere appears to be a slightly metallic version of one of the above, but not sure which one ... or if both;)

When I search for pictures to compare they are hit and miss and more times than not confuse the situation with incorrect info or just bad search results. I know a lot of differences are based on the lighting in any given photo but often that still doesn't help answer the problem.

I would love to finally know if Atlantic is same, lighter or darker than Pastel Green.

I hope your project finished up well.

Regards,

Daragh

Unfortunately like many new members, he's not logged on for two years. Joined, picked brains and then buggered off without contributing much

If you are painting the whole thing I am inclined to say it does not matter which one you choose. They were not original series colours (that was bronze green) so the whole vehicle will be the same light green which ever one you choose. It is only really a problem if you are trying to match existing paint rather than painting everything.

Bronze Green was not the only LR Series green tho ...

Others are available, Cameron for instance ...

Try Java Green on a RTC4039A ...

Thanks guys,

It is a s3 v8 but that Java green is a bit too much for me. The dark greens are classic but I like the look of the lighter ones. So, I think you are right, I am painting the whole thing, so just pick one and go for it

Cheers all,

D

Spot on comments. These are not for an S 2a correct colours. If you’re going respect the provenance and value of the landy stick the correct colt.
