Now I'm getting worried, Blou Bul buddies???? I moved to pretoria in April, support the Cheetahs because I lived in Bloemfontein for 9 years and discovered - THE FREE STATE IS NOT FLAT!!

very!! clocked up 317,000 km with no major problems. probably 50% road-50% bush. live in durbs but have a game farm out near harrismith so i go there often.

bn thinking of gettin a new one, but not too fond of the '07 one.....getting too fancy, plus im fond of the old girl....never really let me down.

Bushtoy, you say no "major problems" have you had some minors? Only problem I had was the alternator bearings that packed up when I got back from a trip to the Baviaanskloof. She's become a bit lazy or sluggish going uphill and I was told it it the compression that's becoming a problem. Should I do a complete engine overhaul or just rings?

minor glitches, like oil in the injector loom, fuel pressure regulator, oil cooler bust and pumped oil into tha cooling system. never had tha motor done tho, and still purrs like a cheshire cat. do complete suspension bushes every 50 or 60 thou, service every 7500.
my attitude has always been if ya going to open the motor, do that lot....it'll pay off in the long run.

Thanx B, tend to agree with you about the motor. The mouse called Clarence......I take it you've been there (Clarence) a couple of times. I find it a pity that the Free State tourism board is so disorganised. The Eastern Free State is probably the best kept secret when it comes to tourism in SA.

yep, been there. often. we have a clothing co in durbs and our manuf plant is in lesotho just on the other side of the river to ficksburg. stay in clarens often. probably the most beautiful part of the 'state', but its sadly growing too fast. the rat race has finally found it

the mouse is named after the perfume....wifey was at her dresser, out popped mousey, wifey dropped perfume bottle, had a good smelling mouse running around 4 a bit. kids smelled him out an caged him

Yip, agree with you. Clarence has become very commercialised and the "small town" charm is gone. It's like Sedgefield between Knysna and Wilderness. I bought a house there about 16 years ago, very nice little coastal village, now I avoid it over the holiday season because the Vaalies take over and the town is bursting at the seams. The water supply has also become a major problem over peak season.

Good investment yes, but it's not the same anymore. Thought I would move back there after I had enough of the corporate world, but now I'd rather go to some Karoo town...

I notice you have a bike too, did you go to the Rhino this year? I went with a couple of friends and stayed at the Purple Plum, had a lot of fun.....

believe it or not, the bike is now a showpiece in tha pub. bought it brand new, hid it from "the boss" for 3 months b4 she found out. sex was not a word in tha dictionary for a while after that. the "wrath of the boss" was too much to bear, so i had a glass showcase made and thats where it sits!!! only done about 5400 km. feck, that was **** hitting tha fan like ya wont believe!!
