I have a 19j in my 1984 90 and with a knackered starter turbo and radiator so bought an entire 19j with rad for 120 rad is brand new so I have pulled turbo and starter off the spares one so I heard of people who removed the turbo off a tdi would this be possible on a 19j as it is a late model 19j with stronger internals it would be more reliable than the 12j?

Is the spare engine the latest type? If so fit it.
I think the Landrover it came out was a h reg if that’s possible or an e reg but it has the turbo without the brake pipe line from engine the crankcase is breathing on the engine apparently which I’m going to rebuild engine and hopefully convert it back to a non turbo to prolong engine life
And turn fuel pump up and straight thru to get those few extra bhp

You can remove the turbo, but if you are worried about reliability, it might be easier to just turn the boost down a bit by de-adjusting the rod on the wastegate.
It will be pretty gutless if you do that.

From memory there was , the blocks were made stronger, the heads were also strengthened, the problem was the location of the head bolts that caused split blocks on the early ones.
Its easy to tell which one you have, firstly the changeover was at this serial number, 19J27515C, if yours is close to this there are other ways to tell , the easiest is to look at the breather, from the back of the block to the breather cap ontop of the engine , then to the filter, this is the later type, early type was from back of block straight to filter. The turbo's a giveaway too. It tool LR a few years to implement the changes so basically the later the engine, the better.

You will also have to adjust the fueling surely?

They weren't. Coated pistons were the only difference on later 19js.

No structural changes until the introduction of ladder frame and other stuff on 200TDi. I have taken plenty of 19js apart! :)

Can you recommend a good engine stand for the engine if I rebuild it?

Not really. I used to take them apart on an old oil drum.
I think the stands are universal, you will need an adaptor plate for the particular engine.
Google search, or ring someone like Craddock would be my best suggestion.

I wouldn't really go by reg letter fella, it doesn't work like that, that just tells you the first reg date, you need the build date or serial number.

What you mean on an oil drum as I have a big 45gallon one right next to the engine

In 1988 they fitted a new block, from what I gather it had extra fins inside or some such thing to give it more strength. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_engines#Diesel_Turbo_(Engine_Code_19J) , ive had both the very latest (present engine) and one of the first they produced, either one as far as I am concerned is just as good as the other.

Not observed any differences in the blocks myself. Wiki is not always authoritative.
The coated pistons on the later engines do make holing a piston less likely. And injector servicing also reduces the likelihood of that happening.
