Another 3 amigo's question

I bought a 2005 3 door TD4 at the weekend for my wife and it has a few issues I need to sort out (I got it cheap )
I have it running great now after cleaning the fuel rail pressure sensor but still have to sort out the lights on the dash.
My question is, would a faulty handbrake switch cause the 3 lights to be lit? Reason I ask is that as well as the 3 amigos I also have the red handbrake light lit. It does go out when you first put the handbrake down but comes straight back on after about 10 seconds or so.
The previous owner thought it was an ABS sensor but im wondering if it could be the handbrake switch?

Simplest thing is to get the codes read it will tell you why the 3 Amigos are lit.

Have you checked the brake fluid level as the reason for the hand brake light?

yeah I checked the level and its ok. Going to get it booked into an indy this week to get the codes read as my cheapy OBD code reader is showing no codes.

Handbrake would cause the amigos to go. ABS sensor Traction Control or Brake Light Switch. If you have cruise control also the BLS has two plugs to check to refit when replacing switch. Worth getting a reader to find the culprit. Worth also checking your service history on what has been changed if any.

No cruise control and I have a pretty comprehensive service history but no mention of anything being changed. The previous owner did give me a new ABS sensor but couldnt remember which side his mechanic said it was for . Im just really looking for other options in case it comes back as not the ABS sensor after all once its been scanned. Hoping it is just the ABS sensor though!

The fluid level sensor is known to go open circuit. This will put the HB light on. You can check this by unplugging the level sensor plug and linking it with small U of wire. If the switch was open circuit, the light will now go out.

You can use the same link trick for the HB switch.

The 3 Amigo's is nothing to do with the level sensor/ HB circuit. You could try reseating the ABS multi-plug, just in case.

er.. it is a freelander 1? 2005 TD4 facelift manual 3 door.
Have it booked into a local indy this weekend to get the codes checked

I know my eyes are getting bad but I did not think they were that bad , sometimes you get the three amigos when the hand brake cables has been done and the wire has accidently come out of the gravity sensor it sits next to the hand brake and looks like a relay but it is yellow I think
