A few peeps are having a ride up to Rivington Pike in Bolton on the 27th of August.
Nothing planned as such just a gentle ride up a mile of farm track, an ice cream from the van if its up there that day and a pint in the local after.
Pop along and say hello and come and giggle at Henry my series 2 and three quarters. Or if your not mobile that day for whatever reason put your name down for a lift upt thill.
Even better, come in something from this decade to tow us all home. :D

In the diary, we are actually likely to be in that rough area anyway, hopefully in the 90 .. ;)

Mind, that doesn't mean we'll be able to meet up .. stuff's happening ...

Come on Bob be honest ! its all about your local dogging club isnt it

Its about 1200 feet I think. The pike itself is only accessible on foot.

We will be meeting at Pigeon Tower just underneath it at the end of George's Lane/Belmont Road.

With a bit of luck the ice cream van will have made it up the hill and we can all have a 99 off the nice Polish girl, that's a nighty nine thank you bug
Back at the start of George's lane there is a pub with imbibement at risk of going sour if not quaffed on our return. ;)
If there are a few none locals coming then it may be nice to pop down to Rivington Barn for a quick looksee. Its a local tourist attraction and usually attracts several hundred born again bikers each Sunday who enjoy the tea and cakes on their weekend run out.

The local landy tribe will no doubt turn a lip up at the idea but I kind of like the place for a half an hour excursion. The tea and burgers ain't bad either and the old burd selling sweeties has some belting fudge. :D

Looks and sounds brilliant!

If we get the chance we'll, or more likely just I, definitely try to get over .. ;)

There is a lane from the tower to the barn that isn't open to the public. It drops down through an old terraced gardens built by a Victorian laird for his wife. It gets a bit interesting near the bottom so I will use my contacts and see if its possible to gain access for a gentle decent followed by a few missing sump pans.

The nutter that built all this even knocked up a copy of Liverpool Castle as a ruin. When I wurra lad you could climb the steps up the towers but they are all smashed out now. Probably for safety reasons.

Gutted! the missus has bought tickets to the live wire festival at Blackpool for that day :( much prefer the day out in Rivington but i guess ill have to wait till the next one.

what time are you thinking of meeting at the pigeon tower
What time can you make it. :D

Its a Sunday and could be quite busy up there by lunchtime so I was thinking mid morning. It will give time for people to travel. I will arrive around 09:30 to clear the area of the dozens of women that will have no doubt heard we are meeting and be hiding in the undergrowth preparing ambushes. A long handled gas weeder usually scatters them down to the barn lunging at the bikers.
;)

Unlikely we'll make it .. work steps in.

I'm a school caretaker and during the school holidays is when we get jobs done, currently we're having a new roof fitted to the whole school and a complete new kitchen! (Grant aided) Roof is going fine, but the Kitchen has hit Asbestos and is a little concerning. They have confirmed that it's fibrous and dusty, so very dangerous and needs removing, so work's halted but we have to wait 14 days for a notice to proceed (something like that). They're expecting to get a waiver, however, and start work on it again tomorrow, lasting at least 14 days just to remove the Asbestos .... The main problem being that the School Hall was opened up by removing a door to the kitchen, so dust has settled in there too and that needs cleaning out .. we aren't letting staff in at the moment, I apparently don't count!

As such they want me to work the next few weekends. I'm Ok this weekend as all I have to do is open up and let them get in .. the following weekends will be when I have to do 4 weeks work in 4 days!!

Interesting stuff, they need to build an airlock, proper washer/sluice station, 'safe' waste disposal system etc and create a complete negative pressure zone including the hall and kitchen! I'll get pictures!!
