Disco 2 Front Bumper

Hi all, a friend of mine had an unfortunate accident with his handbrake on his 2001 D2 and so I'm now replacing the front bumper for him. Managed to get this quite cheap but didn't notice in the photos that some spanner has cut a rectangular hole in it for something - no idea what.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to make it look a bit better?

Not sure whether to just get him a new bumper but the only ones I can find are plastic with no colour coding so I'd have to spray it (if that's even possible? not sure what primer would be needed?) - would rather not if I can help it plus a new bumper is quite dear.

This bumper that came is a bit rough anyway so maybe if there is a primer for plastic it would be best to just get a new one...

Could you not just use the tow ring cover from the old bumper and use it to cover the hole cut it into that one to make a matching pear on the front bumper ,

It may be possible but it is recessed and making the other side the same would be tricky. I think we're going to go for a new bumper...

My guess is whoever had it had two recovery points on the front. With a bit of ingenuity, I think you could cut the section out the old bumper and plastic weld to the new. Bit of caty and paint and it would be fine. If both bumpers are scrap, you have nothing to lose but a bit of your time and effort !!

I have had my bumper repaired twice. Both times I had a small hole about 2" across knocked out. Also had the pieces. First time, not my fault.
Second time down to me and idiocy(Not putting brake on properly.)
Each time my local garage repaired the damage and once resprayed looks like new.
A good body repairer should be able to patch the hole and finish it properly.
worth looking around to find one.
I remember we used to joke in the office about plastic welding rods when plastic bumpers first came out.
