If you don't know what it is, it's a leather sleeve that protects the front lip of the bonnet from stone chips etc. Tasteful yes, unless you like the chipped paint look
No it's a stupid fad that took over parts of America in the 1980's. Which even then looked stupid. Although it's intended use was against the huge insects and bugs they get over there.

In this day and age they look even more stupid and moronic (imo) and serve no purpose whatsoever, apart from to rub the paint off your vehicle at the edges of the cover.

Seriously don't give into peer pressure believing they look good because that's what you "think" you are supposed to think. Use your own mind. And by any rational measure they are one of the most stupid and dreadful things to fit to any car ever!

But hayho you never know they might offer them in a package deal with some muffler bearings and electronic supercharges.

Just sayin :)

And lastly the Freelander with its fairly small bonnet set up high from the road and shielded by a big plastic bumper is largely immune to stone chips unless you follow lots of cars down gravel tracks at speed. But then you might need a windscreen bra too ;)

Hi cheers for teaching my grandmother to suck on those eggs, appreciated. I'm not giving in to any pressure at all. As for it being a stupid fad, that started in the 80s. That's one hell of a "fad", to sustain a market and cross the ocean and still be going strong almost 40 years on. My vehicle is my pride on joy, and if I feel that such things look good or tasteful then that's my opinion. It's also my opinion that people that attach over the top spot lamps, and huge suspension raises is fowl. I asked for advice, not hypercritical remarks.

I notice you are "a well known member" well nice knowing you. Cheers for your advice, cheers for the welcome, and cheers for taking the time to proof check your post, must be hard to spell with that fat head.
