hand brake light

my td5 handbrake light doesn't come on when the hand brake is on but flickers when driving at less than 50. I assume something has come undone as it happened gradually.

Wheres the handbrake sensor switch located on a td5?

Also just realised my mot is due - will a faulty light fail me, or should I fix it or put a bit of duct tape over the light...

neglected to say mot is 8am tomorrow (wednesday).

Had a really good look, prodding about but can't see owt. Managed to disconnect my speedo though by mistake and now when you stop the bloody dial only falls s l o w l y . can't remember if it did before and getting all paranoid.

still, whilst probing checked my loom for oil at the ecu and not a drop. so thats something.

Seems a common problem on a Td5. I think its a switch problem, sometimes helped by adjustment. Sorry I can't be more helpful. The light also shoes for low fluid level, have you checked that?
Don't know about the MoT. Unless he's very conscientious he's unlikely to check it, but if he spots it...

Don't know what the situation is here, I don't have a light so MOT can't check it, if your a chancer you could say it was only fitted on the County models or something - well something yours isn't anyway!

the light doesn't go out on mine, until i push the hand brake fully down and adjust the rubber boot on it to keep it down. it does flicker when i'm off roading cos the handbrake handle does move a lil at time. Nothing to worry about.

just the slack in the handbrake cable.

They weren't correct fittment for that type of lense, not marked correctly and not white (they're kind of whitey yellow).

it would have been fine If my headlights came on dim when keys not in ignition, but they don't and sidelights have to be white when parked up at night and no keys in. or something.

Fair enough on my old ninety as you either have sidlights (the wee things) or headlights, but on the TD5 sidelights are the headlights on dim and I'd thought the wee lamps were running lights, but I stand corrected. KNew nothing about the need for white sidelights with no keys in ignition.

yet they've been through two MOTs so far.... Mmmm.

Apparently all the cars failed that morning.
