hi guys

bit of a story here, I have bought myself a 2002 freelander td4 auto, its very tidy with virtually no rust anywhere but the gearbox was slipping in 4th when hot, I have read the forums on here over and over and performed did a gearbox oil change-fault still occurred. so as my slipping gearbox still slipped

I have sourced and fitted a rare second hand 'good' auto gearbox and filled with fresh oil correctly(carlube ATF-U), the freelander now drives exactly as I think it should and i'm very pleased with it, however since changing the auto gearbox(which was a pig of a job) I now have the brake warning lamp in red iluminated on the dashboard,

I have tried shorting the wires in the brake fluid resivour but the light stays on, I have checked the front brake pads and theres no warning wire attached to them so I cant have snapped a wire there, the handbrake is fully released so i dont think its that, does anyone have any idea please on what might be causing my brake warning light to stay on?

I should mention the freelander is currently in 2wd but I do plan to get it to 4wd at some point when money allows.

any help you give would be much appreciated, thank you

Link the contacts at the reservoir plug, making sure the hand brake is off. There is a known problem with the level sensor connection. If the light is still on ,leave the link in place, then unplug the connection at the hand brake lever. If it's still on, this would point to a problem with the ABS ECU or a mechanical problem with the ABS modulator itself.
