TD5 Dickie Seats

Anybod fitted front facing dickie seats in a 5 seater Td5? If so are all the fixing points there for them & seat belts or is it a right pain in the ding dong?

first thing I did with my 7 seater Td5 was take out the rear seats - only 2 bolts either side to hold the seats - have you got the fittings in the floor that hold them when folded out ?

I would have thought all the relative holes would be there & you would just need all the fittings - you may have to take out the side trim panel to find out.

seat belt just bolt on at the bottom but you may need new side trim to accomodate the belts where the webbing runs into the inertia reel.

sorry if it's not much help - just my experience of removing them.

Looking to buy a TD5 and as we must have 7 seats was just wondering about the possibilities of chucking extra seats in the back of a 5 seater .

Have you still got your seats or dis you sell them?

I think the main issue here is that you will have to deal with the hassle of reregistration of the vehicle as a 7 seater. That is if you want to use that 3rd row of seats for people, not only dogs or cats
I don't know much about french or british vehicle registration but I think it must be pretty much the same as in my country. The vehicle should be first (re)certified ("homologation des vehicules" en francais) and this means that all the modifications need to be made through the authorized LR dealer network (you need some papers from them stating that).

As for the parts needed, additional or different between a 5 and 7 seater, they are a lot. Just have a look in the parts catalog in the trim section only.

Phoned up Land Rover this morning and as already guessed to much hassle expense concerning registering as a 7 seater!

Shame as I had found a cheap 5 seater!

There are NO very cheap ones here! just cheap ones in comparison to the VERY expensive ones .

The 5 seater was at a garage,looked like it had had a re-spray,well rough,ripped seats,lot's of minor stuff,2001,203k km's,lots of leaks,been for sale for the last 6 months, got them down from 10900e to 9000e cash, as seen.

Hi Jason, I did this conversion to my 2000 Disco a couple of years back.
All mounting points are there, but you will have to tap your own threads in them as Landrover didn,t bother!
Only problem that I had was the trim across the rear headlining where the headrests hang down is different for the seven seater and landrover was unable to supply it however if you are accurate and careful you can cut it to fit...mine looks absolutely fine!

The conversion took about half a day to do...not difficult.

Some people seam to think only 7 seaters have air suspension but that is not true because mine came with air suspension.

Had to scrap the idea cos living in France it was going to be very difficult nearing impossible paper work wise as Land Rover France wont give out paper work to change seating on log book & not legal=No insurance

I took the back seats out of mine on day one.

They are in the attic.

I will never fit them again.
