2 months ago i changed water pump on a 4.4 petrol and changed the belts at the same time since then every now and then i start the engine in the cold mornings and it squeals for a couple of seconds and some times its longer i have tried to tighten the belt but no joy any idea how to sort it or what the problem is as i thought it had a self tightening pulley? its doing my head in i cant tighten it any more than i have .

It will be skidding on the alternator pulley as it is loaded replacing the juice used by starting. The grooves on the alternator pulley can wear over time which allows the new belt to sit on the bottom of the grooves and skid under load.

I wouldn't spray belt dressing on a serpentine belt.
Did you follow the correct procedure for tightening as in preloading the tensioner to the max and tightening the bolts ? The tensioner can lose some of its tension, I recently replaced mine but I don't think I needed to...
The power steering pump has an alignment adjuster but that's more of a squeak squeak rather than a squuueeeaaalll
:)
