I'm certain there's a part missing here - what should it look like?

Hi,

I am almost certain there is a part missing here which should hold the top of the radiator in place (to stop it rattling)...any ideas what it should look like and where I can get it from? Perhaps part number?

Its a 1997 300tdi 110.

Cheers

That is brilliant! Thanks! Will order online just need to pick some other thing to get free delivery. Could do with some new door hinges. Read somewhere the TD5 hinges are better than standard 300tdi...is that true?

No. Should be 4 pieces of long plate that all bolt together to form the frame.
Top, bottom and 2 sides.
Plus the 2 brackets that hold the frame to the slam panel.

Hi,

I have never tried TBH, not sure how you would fit the bolts unless you remove the rad / move it sideways a lot which would require the disconnection of the oil cooler pipes.

Also check that the bushes are in the bottom bracket plate.

Cheers

Blimey @Flossie

Turn up to the party late.......................:D

Cheers
Hehehe!
Yeah I guess....
I was replying to the bit about sliding the sides in without removing the rad really.
Then I got carried away with describing the frame without looking at your link which made it self explanatory and then forgot you are a part number tart and then a mate turned up with wife problems so I never finished my post properly and so didn't explain that you can't get the bolts into the sides/lower rad frame with it in situ.
:p

Right... girlfriend took the cats to the vet so I had 40 minutes to investigate! Turns out the car is missing all four bits around the frame! Pics attached. There's also a tiny damp bit on the radiator...do you reckon I should replace the radiator and not worry about it for ages - see pics? Looks relatively straightforward to take both rad and intercooler out...tempted to get silicon hoses whilst I'm at it.

Is that a lot of gunk coming out of your intercooler? Mine is similar, never worried about it.

Is it actuually loosing coolant ? or is that oil blow out from the intercooler?

Either way, you might want to fit all the brackets.

Cheers

I don't think its losing coolant, though I haven't had a chance to give it a proper drive cos I'm still waiting on all the registration paperwork to come through (not in UK). Thing is it costs a fortune to ship bits over here so I'm ordering all of the large items I might need in one go to my UK work address, sticking it on one pallet and trucking it over.
