Afternoon All

I'm almost in a position to buy a Nanocom for my TD5, but before I go ahead, I wanted to make sure that all I needed was the item NCOM02 on the Nanocom website @ £313.11 inc VAT. Are there any other cables, codes that I really need?

When I bought my Nanocom, everything was in the box, hardware wise; all necessary leads, etc.
You'll get notification, by email if memory serves giving you a web address where you log in with your Nanocom's unique identity and you then get access to the two codes you need to unlock for the ECUs on the vehicle.
Easy enough and take it step by step.
The USB lead which is supplied is to connect your Nanocom to your computer and then over the web to the Black Box site to get the codes all working and also to download any updates to the core software.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm just worried now that when it arrives, it'll just highlight even more things which need money spending on

When you do get it,

Or even before, make sure to download all the relevant info from the nanocom website. It takes a while to digest it, but it is worth trying to give it a read before hand then read it again for specific problems.

Cheers

Recommend first things to do, plus help you learn how to use it.

1) Double check your EKA code if you do not have it.
2) Check save and clear all faults
3) Save a "std" drive using some hills and high load driving , keep this as a std to refer back to so you can see if there is any difference if you think the car is not running right.
4) Check , save and clear all faults.
5) Save all info from settings.
6) Change alarm disarm to "always".

Cheers

Please can you explain what you mean? I thought the alarm was always disarmed when I unlocked it? o_O

When you download the BCU doc from the website,..........:D

You will see a section about "Alarm disarming". This show that there are 3 settings available, (1) Key Never , unless EKA is used (2) Key only if door is locked using key (3) Always, Fob and Key will disarm the alarm.

Cheers

To access the EKA from Nanocom

Plug in and wait till unit powers up
Select Discovery II
Select TD5
Select Valeo BCU
Press green arrow right
Select Utility
Press green arrow right
Press Read
and your EKA will display

Thanks, this will be the first thing I do as the previous owners managed to lose the EKA and I've always been worried that I'd need it.

If you go to the Nanocom site there is an emulator tab that lets you play with the unit to try out all the various menus

http://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com

(Just below the O in Nanocom)

What always surprises me about that @biggeeeee , is that it is not 100% viable, it does not let you play and do all the functions. which I think is a shame really, it could be a really useful tool if it also gave a "bubble" description of what was affected when you make a change to a setting.

Cheers
