What have you done to your Freelander today

Drove it yesterday. Went for a jaunt up an old mining track called the Carrick Town track - a good work out! Wanted to see if my bash plate mod and the larger MTs cleared the ruts and rocks. This was in prep for the 4WD club run I've invited myself to tomorrow [Saturday]. However when I was near the top I heard my muffler clonking a bit. Stopped to pop it back onto its rubber hanger and noticed muddy water dribbling down from the front. Got the muffler onto the hanger and noticed that that dirty water was still dribbling - went and had a closer look - EEK engine oil!:eek:
Needless to say I did a road side repair. I managed to crush a rubber oil cooler pipe and put a split in it. I poured a litre of oil in the motor and crept down the road home. Checked the oil at home none showed on the dipstick - added another litre - then another half litre - oil now just on the bottom of the dipstick! added another litre finally on the full mark! There must have been precious little oil left in it on the hill! Basically I changed my oil again!
 
Jeepers - all-in-all I'd say that was a lucky escape - although unlucky to be in that position in the first place.

Remind me again, is this one of the tracks you suggested we take on when I'm down your way in November? :) :)

Hope you can get it fixed up for the club run (gaffer tape? :) ). Did the wheel nuts arrive OK?
 
Fuel pressure regulator repair kit ordered so within any luck It will be main problem of the misfires and fuel rail fault codes and not the more expensive rail pressure sensor and wiring repair kit. hopefully when i'm back from Poland next week I'll be able to fit it n get the sodding thing sorted.

Well Mr. Nodge, seems you are correct again!
I did my run to work with the sat-nav in the Hippo today and with the new 70-series tyres the speedo is only reading 3kmh low at 120.
I think that's well within the expected margin of error. It must have been way off with the lower profile tyres.
I'm getting to be very happy with this Landy! :D

Gaffer tape! - You know that was one thing that wasn't in my tool box! The repair was very simple, the tear/hole was right where it pushed onto the fitting so I just cut off the damaged bit and reattached... and yes that is on of the tracks I mentioned but don't worry we would be travelling down it not up!

Most Freelanders on standard size wheels show about a 10% over read;)
So now you'll be using less fuel for the same distance. That can't be a bad thing.
 
My MTs make my speedo more accurate [215 75 15] Vs the ATs [205 70 15]. Seems to roll along the road better on them too. The other thing I noticed recently was when I used 98RON fuel instead of my normal 95RON. Seemed to have a wee bit more pep and handled motorway hills bettered!
 
Fitted some of my custom made, very bright 501 LED bulbs as side lights. I plan to use them as DRLs that switch to half brightness when the side lights are on.

I know peeps often talk about lights and bulbs etc, but for me I just turn them on and the road gets lit at night. I've never really thought much more than that and never added spots/fogs or tinkered with bulbs. My dad had a spot light on his Holden, but that was held by the passenger and pointing into fields to find rabbits.

I'm afraid therefore, the only feedback I can give is that your car's paintwork looks to be in very good condition and very clean.
 
Thank you GG. I find marks and scratches all over it though. The great thing about photographs, is there ability to make paint look good.
 
Looks like they're nearly as bright as the headlights in day mode but at least they're in the right position. It bugs me when people drive around at dusk with their lights off as the DRL's can be blinding.
Oh and people driving around with their front fog lights all the time, that really bugs me, specially with their side lights on just so everyone can see they got front fog lights on their motor. :mad:



OMG I think I'm turning into Grumpy! :eek:
