Removed the stub axles I forgot to knock off the other day then started to remove all the grime off the axle and trying some paint remover over night that I bought for another small project I was doing today aswell and if it works I will carry on painting it all over the axle case :)

The paint remover has done its job but I haven't had much time to start cleaning it all off as I have been working on my sons car and a mates car aswell and planned to use my week off working on the 2a but I have a long weekend off this weekend so I will try and get it done ready to start on the front axle.

We rang Richard Chassis the other day and they have added a few more weeks onto the finishing time so it will give me a better chance to finish the axles :)

Some pic's of the rear axle case with the paint remover painted on and doing its job so tomorrow will get the axle case cleaned off ready for painting

Other than the diff and half shafts everything is done on the axle just need to sorce a RR diff, so I had a break yesterday from the 2a and did a tip run and soted the garage out as it was getting a tip in there, then got the front axle on the trailer ready for stripping tomorrow :)

Some pic's from Saturday removing the rear axle from the trailer and putting in a corner then once i'd finished with the trailer I put the front axle in there ready for stripping it down yesterday

Yesterday I removed the diff, fitted the new gasket and refitted the diff so just need to rebuild the rest of the axle now.

Had a text off son saying the chassis is coming today :D

Oooooooooooooh a shiny new chassis.

You now need to imagine me day dreaming about not having to weld my chassis up anymore.

Well the new chassis has arrived, it was supposed to have been going in storage at son's g/friend's dads business premises but as its only the front axle that needs rebuilding to fit the chassis ( should be done over the weekend ) we decided on delivering it straight here instead, looks great and its been poly bushed aswell :D
here are some pic's

Axles are more or less done now other than still needing a rear diff but will sort that whilst the Restoration is going on so plan to fit the axles to the chassis at the weekend :)

After spending a couple of hours moving stuff around in the garage to get the chassis in the right spot where I wanted it I then fitted the axles, pic's later :)

Here we go

That looks great, lovely job. I wish I had had the sense to bite the bullet and get a galv chassis. Total peace of mind when it's all back together. Good luck to you, watching with interest.
