It's been running rough for a while. Yesterday it started running really rough.

I think I may have found the problem :)

Bit of chemical metal be fine for few thousand miles lmao
Don't forget to file the ends so it can get purchase, and use a ruler to make sure it's glued on straight.
Don't know why I didn't try this on my broken halfshaft.

I've got a spare somewhere, the trouble is I haven't seen it since I tidied the workshop up but it's around somewhere. The only thing I need to buy is one rocker shaft stud (the rear one) that has sheared off so I won't be able to get that before Monday. With a bit of luck it will be back running on 4 again. One of the valve stem caps seems to have gone awol but looking at the pad on that rocker arm I think it may have been missing for a while so I'll get a set of them as well

It's sort of not that bad, unless that rocker is actually missing. The shaft doesn't have to transfer torque, it just holds the rocker pivots, so as long as it's not bent (wouldn't take long) you're just starving on 2, and 1 if the last bolt sheared while running. Pretty bad then, but a testament to the strength of these old engines that it ran at all. As long as there's something left of the rockers it'll let some spent gas out and not blow itself up.
Surprised there isn't more damage if rockers and spacers started falling out.

Looks like I've discovered where the missing valve stem cap went. No 8 pushrod isn't moving at all so I guess it went down the pushrod tube and has jammed the follower.

Oh well, given the welding and brakes that will need doing for the next MOT I think this Disco is dead.

Well I decided to whip the head off to have a look and sure enough the missing cap was stuck in the number 8 cam follower, holding the follower in the up position, so I guess for the price of a head gasket I might as well put in back together* :)

* Now I've got over throwing my dummy :)
