Can anyone recommend a good td5 clutch kit

I'm in the process of rebuilding my 90 and want to change the clutch too. There are so many out there so could someone recommend a good clutch kit.
I tow a lot and it's running about 180-190 bhp if that helps. I look forward to your advice.

Ashcroft Transmissions are well regarded and their TD5 clutch kit is £105.
I presume it's bought in, and not made by them, but they don't sell rubbish.

You might want to consider replacing the DMF as well.

Cheers lightning I will look into that. Should I replace the DM flywheel with another or go for a solid flywheel.

General consensus of opinion is to put a dual mass flywheel in as it protects the transmission from shock.

If it makes any odds if got a genuine Valeo kit running a similar BHP with no noticeable issues. I believe issues occur once you go properly above 200bhp

The clutch plate itself doesn't have any springs in it, so the idea is that the dual mass flywheel soaks up the vibration and harshness.

I fitted a Valeo kit last year with DM flywheel, I don't have experience of the solid fly wheel but it seems to make sense to fit the original one, my old one had run for 115000 mls so its not an annual event, seems like kits are about £350 on e bay.
Buy the little sintered bronze bush which goes in the centre and stand it in a small jar of oil which comes about 95% of the way up the side of bush, leave it as long as possible before you fit it. The bush is porous and will slowly soak up the oil, helps it keep working quietly for longer.

I put 40K on my gearbox with zero issues after fitting a Rakeway solid flywheel and uprated clutch/cover. The friction plate is sprung which takes some of the slap out but you do get a noticeable gearbox chatter in neutral.

I fitted one because I wanted a beefier friction plate due to my valeo clutch (which was in great shape) slipping in 4th gear.

Main drawback is pronounced vibrations at sustained low RPM, but then I never see that because I drive it on boost pretty much all the time...

Not hard to get 180bhp.

EGR Blank
Decat & straighg thru
Suitable bespoke remap
Up the boost to around 18psi - 22psi with a boost box
Performance intercooler + silicon hoses

Hybrid turbo would bump up to 190 - 200ish, maybe more.

That should leave you somewhere around 170bhp or so, being conservative. Thats what im running currently and not had any clutch issues, that said my clutch is almost new with only 4k miles on it so that may help.

Personally if Land Rover spent all the time and money fitting a DMF theres a reason it should be there.

Thanks all for your comments. Think I'll leave the fly wheel as my thinking is if it ain't broke then leave it the fook alone.

There's no reason why the DMF should not last at least 100,000 miles once replaced. You can fit a solid flywheel but it's harsher to drive and can be harder on the transmission.
