So, lot's people got involved and donated things for the raffle at LZ11, bought raffle tickets etc at LZ11. Sam and Rob donated extra cash from food at LZ11, Flatlander re-donated his raffle prize, people baked cakes and the kids made fantastic Loom bands all to raise cash in memory of a big man with a big heart.

In total (with a bit of rounding up) we raised £620!

*UPDATE*

We are hoping to top up the donation, link to the just giving page is www.justgiving.com/landyzone11

We agreed to send all monies raised to Melanoma UK

All we need to do now is agree on how we send the money. I know that Pikey and Minty have been in contact with his family previously, do you think that they would like to know about the donation?

Do we do make the donation by Just Giving
and leave it open for a few weeks to see if others may want to donate directly?

Let us have your opinions, particularly those who may have know him better than I did.

I absolutely think we should let his family know, I think they'll be really touched that people wanted to raise money for a worthy cause in his memory...

:)

I agree, I think the just giving page is a good idea as well, I'm happy to throw a few quid at it and see if we can bump it up a bit though I'm well impressed with the way everyone pulled together and the amount raised :)

Yep, just giving is a good idea, maybe keep it open for a month and get it topped up. I'm happy to donate more :)

Totally agree with all of the above.....I'm sure there are people on here who would love to contribute to it in Freddy's memory who weren't able to make it to LZ 11 .

I also think it'd be nice , now the immediacy of his death isn't quite as overwhelming to the family ,to show them how well regarded their son, husband, father, brother was ,to a bunch of virtual strangers and how he touched our lives and hearts in a big way.

So who is going to set up the page, get a thread up to drum up more donations and running and liaise with the family ?

I've got a Just Giving account, I can set up a page and start some threads in various forum sections. I have the artwork that was done for his funeral card on my work computer so I can use that... Let me know if you're all happy for me to go ahead and sort it out :)

Go for it, just PM Accy first to make sure you don't both do it.

Thanks Rosie

I have had a reply back from Sarah.

Oh my goodness how amazing just having a little cry...but that's ok. James would be so chuffed you guys did this in his name...keep in touch
..am sure there'll be ongoing events this end and maybe there could be a regular basis freddy memorial landy run event, who knows?? Thank you sooo much, xx

I've also said I'd suggest an annual Charity Memorial run or event in freddies name.

Thanks for doing the hard bit Pikey, i'd be scared of saying the wrong thing.
The idea of an annual Memorial Run is great! I'm guessing SW as that was his stomping ground.

LZ11 Money is added to the just giving too :D proud LZ moment :D
