lost 4th?

Okay folks one to suggest. My 96 dse auto I was driving to work this morning and an oil cooler pipe burst resulting in loss of drive. Pipes been replaced and fluid correct. In high and low box she will only go 1 2 3 and then tc lock in 3rd. No 4th at all. She will engage sport mode and manual on low but only 3rd no change into 4th. Confused.

Sounds to me like a possible battery issue, have it load tested to make sure ...

New battery 3month ago. was fine 4th and tc lock before pipe went pop this morning. It stinks of burnt egg smell but thats probably all the fluid that went flying everywhere
 
Any codes ?

Do the revs drop when trying to engage 4th?

Dont know about codes no wheres open to check. And nope goes 1 2 3 tc locks in 3rd and thats that lol changes normal low manual high sport. Creeps against brake and changes normally. Had a filter at weekend. Fluid was toped up to showing on stick then idled and through gears then it took another 3 so about 10mins max of idle too long fluid to warm to be correct?

Sounds ok to me, but I'm not all that up on Rangies ... but I'd think the convertor would lock when warm enough !!

When Wammers or Datatek surface you'll have some experts to bat this about ...
 
If the box lost oil then maybe there is some damage. Could also be a solenoid sticking. You sure the oil level is correct, engine and auto box cold, engine idling, mover slowly through all gears and back to P, check level.
You could try some Lucas Transmission Fix.
 
I tell you what grrrrr i honestly wish i had just given you it as a donor car. And seen somone get some use of the old girl then this
