P38 Diesel Water Pump - Failure?

Put in a new water pump few months ago. Still had slight water loss over past few months. Looked at water pump today and coolant on pump body vanes so a leak there. But also a load of grease around the back of the spindle - is that usual or is it a faulty pump where Copland has been forced out the back and pushed the bearing grease out? attached a couple of pics. Any thoughts most appreciated

Don't remember seeing any grease when I did mine. Are you sure all the hoses are tight?
 
Careful with island4x4 ...most of there gear is britpart.....sometimes in a plain box as I found out...

Yes, they do a lot of Britpart and Bearmach. However, they do have some decent stuff too, like the Lemforder drag links etc.

They're normally pretty good at telling you if it isn't what you asked for. When I bought my glow-plugs they'd run out of Delphi but they range to check if some other brand would be OK. I said I'd rather wait for Delphi to be back in stock and they were happy with that.
