Hello all!

I am a virgin in the Landy owners game and am hoping to join the elite tomorrow by buying my first, a Defender 90.

What I am hoping for is some advice on my possible choice....

What I am looking at is the third Landy down, price £1800, D193NFU

What are your opinions on this? I have done a check using the RAC website and the vehicle is fully legal but what are the forums opinions on it in general?

Unfortunatly I am limited to about £2000 as a top end figure, perhaps £2500 at a push and this seems to be the only company within about 50 miles of me near Andover, Hants offering any Land Rovers for that sort of money.

If anybody knows of any other companies in the south (Wilts, Hampshire, West Berkshire, South Glos) offering any 90s in good nick for about £2000 please feel free to let me know...!

I picked up my 200TDi 90 for £2500 - it's a 1993 and had 85k on the clock.
Solid chassis & bulkhead, sweet injun & g/box, 12 months MOT and 3 months warranty.

So, there are better ones out there within your budget - you've just got to be patient and look around at a lot.

Unfortunatly circumstance has dictated I don't have much time to be patient! (I wrote my car off 1 week ago by not ensuring bonnet had locked shut and I can't afford to rent a car for too long!):eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

i picked my 90 up for £600 :D :D :D :D :D short mot but should fly through on thursday and so far its only cost me handbrake shoes and a set of shox. bout a 100 quid. no rot anywhere either.

All this was "hidden" when I bought mine and the bulkhead seemed solid. I havent taken pics of the chassis yet but that seemed solid as well, the new one comes tommorrer.

Tek a nammer with yer and if he won't let you hit it then he's got something to hide.

i seriously think you would do well to have a look about first. i know im purely making my judgment on a small pic but even so you know what they say never buy the first one you see.

Can Anyone Help Me??? Ive Got A Series 3 Was Considering Puttin A Dewfender Body Onit. Will This Work?? If So Wat Wud Need To Be Changed Over Or Woud It Be Simple??? Many Thanks

buy a bonnet , grill ,front panel doors and eyebrows.the res is pretty self explanetery. to accomodate the extra width in the body with the eyebrows fitted, deep dish your wheels. like this. made me old 90 look wicked.:D

'kin 'ell Grunt, I thought my bulkhead was bad. At least it was sunny in the photos.

That Landy D...NFU on the link - it looks like a real dog, especially at that price. You should get something similar for less, or better still, something cleaner for the samecash - mine was £800 and looked a damn sight better. Had a year and a half trouble free motoring and plenty swims in the sea (which with hindsight may have not been the best idea) and now putting a new galv chassis on. At the end of the day, I'll have a mint landy for about 3 grand.

I would agree with everyone else and say be very very patient as I rushed into buying my 110 after writing my car off and it has been nothing but trouble so far. I would recommend that if you need a car then you buy a really cheap fiesta or such until you can find the right Landy then you will have a much better experiance of owning a Landy than I have had so far.

yeah hang on chap, landrovers tend to be much the same money if their crap or if they are good.

Step away from that Land Rover. Its a shed from the tyres to doors. You can do alot better - even if you have no transport right now go and buy a £200 banger instead - because a bad Land Rover will cost you more money, heartache and time.

Bunch of dogs - worn out old farm Land Rovers apart from this one;) http://www.affordable4x4.co.uk/uploads/143_DSCF4946.JPG
