You certainly do a nice neat job. It's starting to look like a professional trim service has been at work.

Is the air apparatus going to be happy exposed to the elements under there?

They are normally exposed where it all came from Leyland daf on the outside of the chassis.

Cracking build this, real nice motor too

Cheers bud :)

your doing a great job well done!!!

Thanks, it feels like I'm finally getting somewhere now.

Cracking build this Aaron the motor looks nice can I ask what type of carpet you have used

Cheers :)
This is the stuff I have used. Not the cheapest about, but it seems good quality and would definitely buy again.

Cheers mate :) To be fair it's gone easier than I thought it would.
Awkward stuff like this isn't usually me, but I've quite enjoyed it actually.
So much so I'm contemplating buying a couple more meters and doing the bit behind the seats, and the wiring covers etc in the rear, would probably just finish it off nicely..

Air tank should be fine, they're fitted underneath on the Daf wagon it was removed from.
My main concern is it getting damaged offroad, so I'll be making a guard for it, probably similar to a td5 fuel tank guard.

Cheers bud :) and thanks for taking the time to read
Should be out and about soon enough :D Or I hope so at least.

So as I said a while ago my throttle shaft was leaking.
So I finally got a nice dry day on Saturday to do it, but while the pump was in bits I fitted a 3200rpm spring.

This is where I started.

The throttle shaft and assembly is indexed so had to take note of where it was.

Take 4 allen key bolts out and lift pump top up, pushing throttle shaft down as it's easier than trying to get the spring off.
Leaving this. Changed the spring and O-ring and reassembled.
Job done, no more leaking throttle shaft. Shame it's white smoking, but it was doing the before anyhow :(

Also made a rear door card, started covering it in carpet and ran out of spray glue

What dya reckon the white smoke is Aaron, HG on it's way?

Not sure to be honest Ben.
I'd be happy if it was the head gasket, it's actually quite bad now, it seems to have gotten worse. Allot worse! :(
I recon it's a little blue as well so I'm expecting the worst.
Either way it's starting to annoy me now , will post more later and try and get a video.
Going to try and get a compression tester and see if that can tell me anything.

That's a bugger mate. Hope it's not too serious.

Also, it would have been good if you had a proper drive in it before you fitted the upgraded governor spring. You could have seen the difference it made! :)

Yeah, I'm hoping for the best but expecting worst if I'm honest bud.

But yeah, that was the original plan, but I needed to replace the throttle shaft o-ring and I didn't want to have to have it in bits twice, and it needed doing before it goes for a test.
Would definitely have been nice to see the difference :)

White smoke can be pump timing, it's worth checking as it's a lot easier than pulling the head off.

You'll need these two to set it correctly. don't worry about them saying it's for a VW as the different thread sizes will fit any Bosch VE type pump.

Cheers Mark, pump timing was one of the other thoughts I had.
One thing that made me think otherwise was the fact that it seems to have gotten worse gradually.
But for the price of the tools it's worth a go I think. Already got a dti, just need to find the adapters from a uk supplier now :)

Sorry, try this one (in the UK)

It's worth advancing the timing a tad anyway, I think (and this is from memory) 3° advance is 0.15 on the DTI.

No worries, cheers bud :)
Had a search earlier and found one anyhow.
Cummins pumps can be advanced by moving the whole pump on 3 elongated holes if I remember right. But will have to have a look into it a little bit more before I do anything much.

Not looked at a cummins closely, but all the other Bosch VE pumps I've worked with were moved this way, apart from the 300tdi.

Don't forget to release the rear bolt before you try to rotate the pump.

Could the progressive smoke problem be due to diesel build up in exhaust and the lack of a good run ie just moving it in and out the garage [emoji12] try giving it a good run out before you strip out down [emoji12]book it in for you're mot then give it a run before [emoji12]that way you're covered for tax [emoji41]

I'm not 100% myself bud. I'll have a look into it more and see what I can do at the weekend.

Hopefully your onto the problem here mate. Fingers crossed for ya

Cheers mate. Hopefully so. But I recon it's a little blue too. Which is the worrying thing.

That's a good point. As it has got worse the more it's been run. But not a proper run.
Others have said the same, so I guess that's the next step, book it in for a test and go the long way around :behindsofa:

On another note I got the air tank plumbed in the other day after moving it.
I had ordered some bits to extend them but having routed through the shed I realized I already had all the bits to do it

And I love where I live  People always talking.
Had a random bloke and what I assume was his son come up to me yesterday asking me for advice on where to buy a 90.
Apparently "I'm the man for Landrover's around here"

A friend of a friend of the neighbours apparently. He just wouldn't tell me which one, although I think I know who.
Still it seems word gets around, kinda scary really
All just seemed a little strange to me.

He asked me where's the best place to buy one. I just told him to keep an eye on ebay and the like.
He said "We have been doing for months and can't find anything cheap enough. Don't you know anywhere you can send us for a cheap one"
Oh, yeah. Really  I can't find any cheap ones myself

Yes, I get that too. People come up and ask me to fix their cars. Usually little things, like a woman the other day who couldn't get her door to lock, or someone a while ago whose lights would not turn off on her Subaru. Not knowing anything about these models I was a bit pessimistic but we found a switch she'd never noticed before on her steering column and the lights went off. A man asked me to help him start one of these the other day
VOLVO C70 2.3 T5 2dr Convertible for sale in Birmingham | Auto Trader It was only a flat battery fortunately so we got him rolling again pretty quickly. I had a good nose under the bonnet while I was at it. "You must know a lot about cars" he said. I wouldn't consider myself an expert. it's mostly what I read on Landyzone.

Be careful that they weren't just scoping what you had in your shed/drive... It has been known mate..
