Black chequer plate.....need silver and door respray ££ question

Hi, I have black chequer plate all over the place on my 110...any idea the easiest way to get this back to silver, assuming it simply powder coated as some of the black has chipped off.

To replace it all is going to be around £150.

Also, does anybody have an idea of how much it would cost to repair oxidisation on number of areas on my door, get some of the normal dents out and respray?

Keep it black, silver can look a bit cheap'n'nasty and personally I think the black suits your 110 more.

I agree that black looks good on your Landy! I guess you'd need to find someone with a blasting cabinet to get them back to bare metal. Silver doesn't look cheap and nasty,some people over-do it and it can look over-kill!

After I blast them would they need polishing / finishing?

I would just drill out the rivets, clean the chequer plate up and respray them with Rustoleum Black and then use Rustoleum lacquer to finish and refit.

Not sure to be perfectly honest. Assuming they're alumium then there's no reason to for rust protection. You could apply some clear lacquer ( stuff for ally or alloy wheels etc. ) or just leave em naked if they turn out alright.

Rustoleum is just a brand of decent paint that's all, it is pretty hard wearing and does not chip that easily, especially if you heat the metal up first and apply the paint then.

I think if I had the choice (I didn't this time) I wouldn't have placed it that high on the doors.....I might do away with it when I get each door resprayed and just keep the chaequer plate on the front wings.
