I like old tractors, the Field Marshalls are very interesting, a huge 2 stroke single!

That would probably be a Bolinder type engine with a hot bulb for starting.

Field Marshalls are full diesel unlike all the Lanz patent hot bulb semi diesel. By full diesel I mean it's a high pressure, timed injection just like any normal diesel. The Lanz hot bulb is not timed injection, instead it injects much earlier in the compression stroke at lower pressure and uses the residual heat in a cast iron bowl to aid combustion. Marshall copied Lanz, but converted the engine to full diesel. I've played with both, I find the hot bulb engine easier to start but it does take longer.

I know not why, but FWD does seem to help.

I have only ever towed with RWD and never had an issue.

Once towed a 110 rolling chassis with a 90... was an utterly horrible experience and will never do it again.

The 90 has just too short of a wheelbase for safe, highway speed towing.

The 110 or 130 are in a different league.

To me FWD is just unfinished 4WD. I just do not like FWD or front biased 4WD
