i have got a 90 with disco 200 in it. i want to fit a 2nd alternator, what one do i use, how do i mount it and how do i sort wiring thanks

What for?

TWO alternators that connect into the same battery (i.e. the same system) is a recipe for disaster. Expect smoke and flames from one of the alternators if it doesn't like the plan.

If you need more output fit a more powerful alternator.

If you want to run a second circuit, fine, but you would be better doing it using a caravan type relay system to separate the systems while allowing power from the car to run the second one.

You'd be better off with a 2nd Battery and a split charge system.

does a alternator from a ford granda scorpio fit??????

I think it charges at 120 amps ish, type of thing, you know what am talking aboot!

That's more like the idea!
You can probably change the drive pulley easily, and if the brackets don't fit, it won't be hard to sort.

One BIG alternator is the best way to go.

What makes you think you need a more powerful alternator?

The one you have should be at least TWICE as powerful as any normal car needs.

Depends what you need the extra power for, i am makeing a overland camper and will be fitting a split charge system in it to cope with the fridge and extra lights.

Lots of people manage that sort of system fine on a standard Alternator and 2 batteries. Do a google You'll find loads of blogs and sites setup by people doing long distance expeditions. Saying what works and what doesn't.

indeed. i used to work for a overland company for 7 years as a driver/leader then spent 2 years as workshop manager building the trucks and i have a good idea obout split charges etc for trucks so i would imagin that landy are the same but just on a smaller scale.
