dying RAM

is thur an easy way to tell if yer computor memory is dying?
mine keeps freezing fer a few seconds, every 5mins, after 30mins use. dunt seem to be any progs running that would cause it , well none that i can see

sounds like static - did yui use anti-static precautions when fittin them. that can cause all sorts of weird probs.
else its a heating probs - check all ya fans are working and clean out any dust, fluff etc from ya pc. if yu got a spare fan around - take the cover orf ya pc and let the fan blow cool air onto the main board. that will check heat probs.

ah dint fit them they was in there when i got it.. could be the static cause ant keeps getting a tingle orf it . but then he reckons he gets one orf me guitar aswell. i can hear the fan turning and its fairly clear inside unlike me other one which is having its motherboard ploughed ready fer this seasons crop.

yu shd have at least 2 fans - one in the power supply and one on the cpu inside - yu mite have another on the video processor as well. take the cover orf and check they is ALL working ok. Shdnt get a tingle coz the case shd be earth unless its funny frog wiring. Get mondo to send ya a socket tester.

brit socket tester int any good, and its got 4 fans and and and me wiring is **** , might have to run a fooking earth as very little has a erff at present.

It could be a static prob or heat but its more likely to be your OS (Operating System) or your HDD or your network.

The way to roughly check if its Memory / processor is when it lockups does the mouse still work and or does the scroll lock / num lock light still toggle?
if they do then it proves that the CPU , motherboard , vid etc are still running.

To test if its the Network disable the network card (Right click on the card icon and select disable) and reboot, then work locally for a while (Sorry no landyzone) playing a game or something.
If it locks up then we need to start looking at what was running at the time and what you have installed.
Also check your event viewer and task manager.
If you find a unusual event in the event viewer try looking it up on
EventID.Net


Good luck as this is only a start in looking for a prob.

A good rebuild once in a while clears a lot of problems

every thing freezes mouse keys and any music thats playing, that goes into machine gun mode. i try and check me task manager fer interlopers each day and after a freeze up but so far i int found nowt.

would a bad or no earth in the house leccy cause it cos i found out last night this room dint got one!!!!!!!


about an hour after posting this it stopped doing it and hasn't done again . yet . today. but am ready fer it when it do do it

cant to any harm to do a diskchk and a defrag. It sounds like the system is busy doing summat else - anti-virus or updates or summat.

Yep a poor earth will do it every time and if you dont get it in time it can F*** your hardware and you too sometimes.

bin defraged and all that stuff . i do get a cd icon next to the mouse from time to time and the cd rom trys to fire up but there are no cd's present

am gonna run a earth wire out to a erff spike till i get the place rewired. its on the list but not at the top yet

Mine does that in Itunes but is ok in winders media player.
