painting hardtop opinion

hiya

my 3 door was a former commercial, wish to get another hardtop with the windows , already removed the steel panel and put the rear quarter lights in

spoke to one of my neighbours who is a car sprayer and said he could spray it for me being black which is the same colour as the car

has anyone else had their hardtop sprayed professionally please and do u think it looks ok , do they tend to crack in time etc

I don't particularly like the hard top painted body colour. It just don't seem to look right I think it is to do with the shape and position of the windows. The only one that I thought looked ok was a silver commercial.

There's a white freelander commercial on eBay with a white roof. I think it looks pants having it the same colour. DieselDo had a carbon fiber vinyl on his and it looked quite smart.

Why not just buy a Hardtop with windows then sell your commercial one. Commercial ones sell pretty well....

thks guys,

concerning the hardtop i was indeed going to do that in buying one with the windows already in and sell mine

know the ones with windows already in are currently going on ebay for 100 quid or so, but postage is another 50 quid on top

havent seen the carbon fibre one, will have a look , thanks for the heads up

i actually managed to get hold of the ridgid rear parcel shelf from a breaker and after doing a search on here rubbed it down put a primer on it and sprayed it black, hasnt come up bad either, if i say so myself, lolol

the rubber seals need changing so hopefully can get one with better seals as the current ones are split and looking tired

can only find pics of colour coded ones and not in black so if anyone does happen to have any pics of a sprayed black one would be very grateful please
