Alright chaps, Just purchased a bio fuel processor off fleabay, bit of a bargain. Going to pick it up tomorrow night. I've rung round a couple of takeaways and restaurants to try and set up regular waste veg pickup. I've said that I’ll sling them a bit for the waste, not sure what kind of money I should offer per litre,if any really?... I said I will leave a container with them to fill up and to text me when it’s full for me to come and collect and then drop off an empty one. The only problem is that they have informed me that they require some sort of certificate to prove that it is being responsibly disposed or recycled. I have been researching a bit and think it may be a 'ISCC' certificate i require, but i'm not sure,it's all a bit puzzling. Could anyone please tell me exactly how to get around all this,it's alot more complicated than i first thought. Just wan't to produce some cheap fuel so i can use the money i save to beef up my defender 90 with some icon upgrades and maybe even a V8 conversion!...eventually. Thanks guys,Tom.

They are required by law to show where there waste oil went and to who.

Waste transfer notice
Download free from enviroment agaency website
Dont need a carriers license if you are not selling the waste oil on.

think you need the environment agency licence to carry any waste

we fit amongst things alarm systems, need the licence to remove the cardboard packaging they come in from peoples homes

The reason a lot of takeaways say you need a licence to collect waste,
is because the cooking oil delivery drivers tell them they WILL be prosecuted
if they give it/sell it to someone without a licence.

That's because the drivers get paid a certain amount for every 25 litre can they collect.
I've heard stories of drivers saying, we supplied you with 125 litres last week, you should have 100 litres of used to return to comply with the environment agency.

Spot on.

The big collectors are your biggest enemy, playing all sorts of dirty tricks and quoting rules and regs that just don't come into play for a home brewer.

Please have a good read of vegetableoildiesel.co.uk and biopowered.co.uk for all your brewing questions.

Good luck

NEVER offer money straight away.
If they want paying for it think of 10p per litre for crappy whites and 20/30p per litre for good clear oil.
If you are collecting the tins check what in them before you pay for it.....wouldn't be the first time someones paid good money a little bit of oil sat on a tin of water!

It's not unusual to pay in arrears, this way you can decant it and remove any water and solids only paying for the good oil you can use.
