Nut + Bolt size guide

Does anyone have a guide to the sizes and thread type of each bolt and corresponding nut for the chassis of a land rover 90?

It's because I am rebuilding mine and am in need of pretty much every nut and bolt. And I'd like to buy each one from a wholesaler as it should work out cheaper. But obviously I need to know the sizes of each one so i can tell the company.

I put together the attached file when I rebuilt mine. It's not an exhaustive list! Plan was to convert all to SS till I realised that wasn't such a great idea.

In the end I just bought a couple of boxes of M6 in different lengths, M8 and M10 likewise. Cheap enough if you buy in bulk from somewhere like toolstation. (ie x100 M8x40 are <£4)

It helps to get one of these below. With the thread pitch and sizing gauge, you can know what bolt you have in case you removed one which got damaged or can be used when purchasing from an unmarked box. Also helps if you got your bolts mixed up...let's hope you don't mix up your nuts too ewwwww

No prob M8.....wait...that's a bolt size too

You guys can also get a bolt size chart, most metal machining equipment companies, companies selling bolts other fasteners gives them away.

By the way, the underside of that thread pitch and bolt sizing gauge has the bolt sizing markings.

You will learn over time to the point where you will be able to identify a bolt or nut by looking at it.

Always use the gauge when purchasing singles, because some idiots would pick up a bolt, look at it and then toss it into another bolt bin mixing up the different size bolts.

When you get home, you realize you have have the wrong bolt and now confused if the size you have is not whats specified, so always best to use the gauge, they are fairly cheap.

I did the same as others... went to the local fastener supplier and bought boxes of m6 m8 m10 and m12 in various lengths....
upgraded every nut n bolt to BZP 12.9, only exception are the door hinge bolts that are stainless
and he has a very much an old school 'for cash' pricing system....

hopefully being BZP they wont corrode in place and being 12.9 grade the allen key will round before the socket ever gets damaged...

Good idea. Having an auto shop up to a year ago we bought the 1000 pcs boxes of stainless bolts and nuts too.

Here in Barbados the cost of everything is the same as extortion rates, have to ship in tons of my stuff left from my shop including all the fasteners.
