Door ripped off-help!

I would suggest that you get a good second hand door and a A-pillar section for donor metal, then take the car to someone who is very good at welding who can rebuild the A-pillar and re-attach the door. When that's done to your satisfaction then get someone to paint it.

I would suggest getting another Freelander,,
and swapping all the bits you want from this one to the replacement,

Save the IRD,VCU, Prop, Gearbox & Engine if you have space,
and you have your own spares shop in your garage,,
full of all little bits and bobs as well,,

If you gradually sold all the parts you would probably get back
the cost of another Freelander,,

Good Luck whatever you decide..

I must admit to smiling when I saw the pictures as it looks like it has just fallen off.

Like others have said find a donor vehicle and cut out a section with the hinge on it and weld it in unless the pillar is badly bent.
Has it pulled on the roof or sill?

Michael Caine and the Italian Job spring to mind.

One advantages of the early Freelanders is that so many are being scrapped/broken at the minute there is an excess supply of most spare parts - especially body panels. If you do some e-mailing with your paint code you might be able to get a door in the correct colour - the going rate for doors and bonnets on e-bay seems to be £20 to £40.

I would also check the wiring loom for damage as well - has it pulled the wires from out of the car? That could potentially be the most tricky part of the repair.

If you were near me I'd see if I could help you out, as long as its safe to repair it of course

Door is fecked though, just worth scrap metal, not worth trying to fix that, speshly if you can get one for less than 50 quid in the right colour

Get a full set of new hinges too from the donor vehicle, if the A pillar of your car is fine, just change all the hinges and fit the new door. Few hammers will sort out any dimples, but check the door fits in the hole before you start any work on it, as the door frame might be crushed, then thats a whole other kettle of fish

Hey guys,

A little old lady didn't wear her glasses driving, and my landy has her door off.

I've tried to upload the pics, and they are on this post, somewhere????

Any body know of a reasonable priced company that could put it back on around south west London?

Cheers amigos
What you mean is you opened the door witout checking it was clear to do so. good job it wasn't a motorbike, could have killed.

No, datatek you f'kin moron, it does not mean that.

What it means is that when I got back in my car, a very lovely but senile old woman smashed my door off-1ft nearer and my career as a climbing arborist would have been over, screwing my life up completely and that of my daughter and Mrs. Now go and dispense your worthless advice to a mug, you idiot

The back edge of the door was hit looking at the picture, so it was open in the way of traffic.
It's your fecking responsibility to ensure the way is clear before opening a door into the carriage way whether getting in or out so you are the fecking idiot.
I'd be reporting you for due care and attention.

Are you having a laugh you flipping nut job? Are you sure you got the traffic the right side of the road??? Or are you gauging it in your own Gallic Dalek way?

Tell you what, Dalektek, why don't you report me to the police? Go against me, witnesses and the driver who has admitted liability and both insurance company's....... You are obviously a French computer on autopilot sent to annoy us roastbeefs......

Now lets here what you got to say datacaper:flame2:

The problem here is that it's a Freelander with one of its doors fallen off, people love that sort of thing :D

Hmm... think Datat tek should apologise for jumping to conclusions - then if he's a gent the other chap will retract his rant... otherwise it will have to be handbags at dawn.

Quite happy to call it a day on this one-as as gaytrek is too ;)

You can rant all you like, but Datatek is right.

There are too many pillocks who don't give a **** about other road users - you put that old girl in a position of hitting your car. If you don't want to wait before a break in the traffic before getting in your car - don't park in such fecking stupid places. Park on a quieter or wider street. If you persist in parking on narrow busy streets, wait a fecking minute until your not going to fecking cause grief before getting in your car.

Fecking idiot.

FFS just when we thought it would go quiet... Hopefully with the help of this forum his Freelander will be saved from the breakers - so far as these pages are concerned - what else matters?

Did you not read his post where the other driver & their insurer admitted liability?

This forum is about Landies and their owners. He dediced to shout his head off to a senior member when I for 1 agree with what he had said.

If you wana be a mamby pamby fecking social worker, go join the poxy Green Party P.C. Forum and hug some trees while you at it.

You just need to look at the pictures to see that he shouldn't have opened his door while there was trafic there. He may have played the system and got a payout, but it doesn't mean he hasn't created or contributed to the incident by what he's done.
