Here's a little puzzle. I seem to have a little knock. It isn't always there but sometimes it turns up. I feel it more than hear it, as a bump under the heel of my right foot. It is regular, like a loose wheel but I've checked all the wheels. I shone a torch under there and I cannot see anything loose.

Anyone got any idea what might cause it?

Cheers,

J

there is a silver colored heat shield bolted on to the underside of the footwells, its a couple of feet square and above where the exhaust drops down to the cats.
If you remove bolts and refit with very big washers it should stop flapping about.
Mine started flapping at 70mph with no warning and it felt like something was very wrong with the drive gear.. Which hopefully isn't your problem.

+1
I had the same issue on two of my p38, it's worth a check

Now that's the kind of thing I was hoping to hear.

To be fair she has been used in anger (off-road) a bit so something's bound to come loose sooner of later.

OK. Will try and get some spare time this weekend. Work is bl**dy nuts at the moment.

What's the way to check the anti-roll bar bush? Just try and shake it and check for play, somehow?
