Have just drilled 2holes in each 2 19mm nuts on bottom front shocks to remove ,on my 110 ready to fit pro-comp lift kit tomorrow

It will pull at 50 but doesn't cruise well at that speed.

it will cruise on a light throttle at 60/65 no problem and is happy at that speed, can accelerate from 65 right up to as fast as I have taken it which was 85mph, could have gone more but felt a bit unstable in the wind. Just that I don't want to cruise at 65 because of the extra fuel she uses.

I like to cruise at 50 which is just about when I change up to 5th after joining the motorway and the revs are very low, the engine doesn't seem to be in it's stride if you know what I mean.

I too have a straight through exhaust except for a small Disco back box which is just a small muffler with no restrictions, there is plenty of power as she tows a laden car trailer at 60/ 65 if required.

I didn't have a problem with the small Disco alloys fitted because it was much lower geared and was happy at 50 mph.

I know what u mean. Mines happy at about 55 which I'm quite happy to plod along at. Mines also on 265/75/16. Want either 33's or 285's next but will prob have to throw a 1.4 fender transfer box on.

Mines on 235x80x16 which are huge for standard road tyres, less than 30mph is third gear

Ah right, I see what you mean. Tbh mine is very happy at 50mph in 5th and is at less than 2000rpm. I've taken it up to 70mph but it really doesn't seem to appreciate it, at the end of the day it's still a 2 tonne house brick I'm just happy that it will sit more comfortably at normal road speeds without compromising too much of the pulling power, before it was screaming it's bollocks off at 60mph in 5th. I don't plan on putting bigger tyres on, so should be ok as it is

Yes disco T/B and fourth is about 1100/1200 rpm at 30 on sat nav, will just run but isn't happy if you know what I mean, and the plate on the roof rack vibrates

I've replaced the rear shocks (managed to sheer off the top bolt so had to buy a new bracket as well!), whilst the wheels were off, the rear disk pads were replaced and after closer inspection so were the front disk pads.

It was good to start getting to know my new Land Rover, I enjoyed working on it. I also enjoyed how cheap Land Rover Discovery 1 parts are!😃

Used the brake master cylinder rebuild kit on the 300tdi Disco, flushed out all the horrible old fluid and bled the brakes. Set about sorting the steering fluid leak and quickly realised that the replacement hose what I bought is by far the least leaky of the three, left the hose alone for now and ordered the other two hoses from Paddocks, might as well do all them at the same time. When we was messing about looking for the source of the leak(s) found that the steering box mounting bolts were all loose, kinnda surprising / concerning.

Today I am going to clean out the disco and hammerite the floors now they have dried up properly.

Today i have made and fitted my steering guard and changed the rear a frame ball joint.

Replaced the leaky pinion seal on the front diff, rebuilt the prop yoke, was well pleased with the result. Happiness lasted about 7 minutes, right up to until we found the knackered p/s swivel. It's wrecked. Off road plans for this week are now shot in the head, while I wait for the rebuild kit from Paddocks to arrive which will be at least a week...FFS......

Erm I slipped with a 9" grinder and went through the front brake lines on the plus side it does mean the new disc braked axles I'm collecting on tuesday will benefit from brand new copper pipes....
