Help, my knob's falling off!

...well, not quite but my gearstick knob is rotating in my hand. How do they come off and refit - do you just pull your knob off

I know this is a really stupid question, but I don't want to damage it and it's pretty annoying at the moment.

My gearbox is an LT77.

I'm sure it just unscrews, quite a bit of thread on it mind so have patients.

That will be where I'm going wrong then, I'm not the most patient person. I did try unscrewing it though. It's probably stripped, so I will persist!

Sounds line a plan. Might sneak out tomorrow when she's not looking though. Some of my jubilee clips were a bit loose on the cooling system, so I nipped them up today and also decided to do the same with my intercooler pipes..

Tonight I was rewarded with a nice loud whistle from the turbo and lack of power, so I must have dislodged one of the silicone hoses. Should have left well alone.

Mind, the whistle sounds great - shame it drives like a piece of crap!

My mate says he had trouble with silicone hoses working loose, did mine up with my speshull jubilee clip screwdriver socket thingy, one of my better buys

I remember now that this was a really awkward section connecting to the turbo - there is not much meat for the hose to connect too. It's been fine since I put it in months ago, it's just a case of me fixing something that ain't broke - and then breaking it

Yeah, I always use my little ratchet and socket too. Great tool. In fact, I use my 1/4" drive ratchet for most jobs, including many that are far to heavy for it. I keep expecting it to break, but it just keeps on raising the bar and laying down the next challenge

My lt77 knob was rotating in my hand to, the threads in the knob where stripped, I wrapped the shaft in ptfe tape and put some silicon sealant in the knob. Holds it enough that it doesn't rotate but with some effort I can get it off should I need to

Replacing the muffler with a straight pipe will get you that whistle back!

Yeah, I've read about that. It is a good sound and it's certainly something to think about in the future - when it's warmer
