Please can anyone help in desperately trying to find a defender 90 from 1991 even if its not immaculate and needs a bit of work please if you can help will be much appreciated

He says from 1991. So would guess he wants a 200tdi.

Well for one, Defenders that age without costing a small fortune will not be immaculate, and what you perceive as immaculate may be different to someone elses!

I think he means from 1991 onwards, when the TDi came in.

After 1990 power steering came in on the 90 so thought anything after 1991 would be decent and yes anything after 1991 onwards I'm after lol basically a running engine and good chassis

Was looking at about 2k but found loads for about 3 so will have to do abit more saving I think lol but if anyone sees one that needs. Abit of work please let me know? Many thanks

After searching for 3+ months for a renovated 90 hardtop, I just picked up my new motor.
This morning I deleted over 60 bookmarked vehicles and 4 pages of watched items on ebay, that was how I got a handle on the current market.
1. Decide budget
2. Define exactly what you want it for
3. Build a picture of the "perfect vehicle" to fulfill #2 and decide what you are willing to compromise on.
4. Check current market - bookmark every relevant site, check daily for new listings - Visit a LR dealer and check a few vehicles over see what you are getting for your money at dealer prices.
5. Learn about your chosen vehicle, read the buyers guides etc.
6. Increase budget to meet expectations, or lower expectations.
7. Keep looking
Remember this time of year is sellers market advantage as people want a 4x4 for winter, Springtime is buyers market advantage, so it may pay to be patient.
Why do you want it, what do you want, and how much do you want to spend?

I want it for a everyday vehicle and fun off road when I go out and would like to spend about 3k on a nice one not fussed about colour or if it needs work cause will be a good experience making it look good over the months

Yeah I know people will hold on to there landys or bump up the price so that's why I'm saving and looking in February time but just thought I would ask incase there was anything going

Have you got access to a workshop/garage and could you arrange to get a vehicle moved on a flatbed/trailer?
A cheap option would be to find an MOT failure that needs a bit of welding, but is otherwise sound, spend c.1500 on it and then have some cash left to bring it up to standard. It'll mean going to look at a lot of vehicles, but if you have a prearranged vehicle mover and somewhere to do it up it'll be a lot easier to make a decision.
I'd give you something to do over winter
A cheap option would be to find an MOT failure that needs a bit of welding, but is otherwise sound, spend c.1500 on it and then have some cash left to bring it up to standard. It'll mean going to look at a lot of vehicles, but if you have a prearranged vehicle mover and somewhere to do it up it'll be a lot easier to make a decision.

You see I'm now under the impression it would have been better to spend another grand and get one with everything working and up together as all the small jobs add up in cost despite seeming insignificant at the time - horses for courses!

whats the difference between a 90 for 1500 and a 90 for 2500?

do you think the higher price vehicle would have "everything working and up together" not needing any small jobs?
You see I only mentioned it because i saw a 90 on ebay in Essex, loads of off road goodies, looks like an enthusiast owns it but selling due to illness, it's been sat on his drive for over a year, needs a bit of welding for the MOT, and it was 1500, saw that and thought of the OP.
do the welding and waxyoil it, put a MOT on it and it'd be 3000+

Yeah I have been looking and 90's that need some repair work but can't find anything at all lol I can get it picked up so that's not a issue if I can find one with a nice chassis and decent ish engine I will defiantly have a look =]
