P38 changes

If there is anything you could of changed on your p38 diesel or petrol
What would it be ?
For me I have to say the cooling system in the diesel and the fly wire fuel injection pump .

You only really need it if you disconnect the battery with the vehicle super locked (example a piece of **** Alphaline goes dead overnight). Otherwise just resync the key procedure does the trick.

Bix I never super lock I got two lab's guns and plenty of iron bars :d

Put it this way why would I need super lock , unless you got a crane !

I've got it and tested it just in case too much paranoia around here

worst case I had some 10 years ago I was xmas shopping parked on top floor multi storey,locked it up, done shopping, returned & pressed remote & nothing at all. looked around & all I could see was satellite dishes & aeriels on every building & rooftop as far as I could seecarpark closes in 1/2 hr & no way for access of recovery truck or pushing it down 3 floors,entered eka afew times nothing just engine disabledjust kept on sycing & pressing remote till finally it workedi never locked it again after that episode lol. afterall if they wanna get in it saves them breaking the window

My dad taught me that years ago , if they want that radio for their fix they will break the window of feck your lock

I found the same on the RAC, if you leave nothing in view then even with all the doors undone a simple super bright LED is enough to scare them off. With the law now leaving entrapment vehicle's for the low lifes to get caught. They seem to think something's not right and leave it alone. I'm wiring a bypass cut off on the battery and then running it up to near the normal flashing led on the dash. I'm getting used to the battery disconnects and those P38 problems. Shame they didn't listen to those old engineers KISS Keep It Simple Stupid. The number of new cars that get slated because of the designers cocking up. Shame technology has to screw up a great idea. Improvement in stages is better then throwing loads of tech in the first model and then allowing it to interact. St Elmo's fire with the electronics. Around every corner there's a new idea that will interfere with the old tech. Radio waves, Wifi etc.

Have you seen the problems that come with the RR Sport!

They even f'd the fuel sender mechanism up !

i would change the engine to a disco 300tdi not much goes wrong with them and no big electricery on them like the beemer has and get rid of the becm and go back to old fashioned wiring a car should not have more brains than its owner

poxy window regulators, only took door card off last weekend to repair loose rivet cos it was rattling and doin my head in, whilst there greased up runners, window was going up and down as smooth as a babys bum so done passenger side too, gets to work last night put up window only for it to start banging when reaching top and getting >window not set message<, so looks like another look is needed this weekend and probably a new reg. plastic interior parts are ****e too.

Obviously top hat liners in the V8 wouldn't have gone amis

If I had cash and the will to keep the p38, I'd fit an M57 engine as that's an easy option mated to a ZF4HP24, new LSD at the rear and a transfer box with manual 2WD selection, lockable diff and NO VCU, plus freewheel front hubs.
