Firstly I am not being drawn into a political debate but IMO the good people of Ireland (republic) have had it to good for too long, myself included I own properties there and to put things in prespective a thousand or two to tax a vehicle of YOUR choice when there are €0 council taxes to pay €0 water charges to pay what's the problem ! Hope that helps in my justification

Unfortunately you are mistaken there.....We now have council tax, a seperate water tax being rolled out at the moment. We also pay for bin collection, Education, GP visits, hospital visits, Prescription charges have just been increased in the budget to £2 per item.....The list goes on. All to prop up public servants pay......Sorry all about the political nature of these posts but, back on topic now.....

Just to try and put things in perspective here, have any of you helpful chappies got any experience of road tax rates in other EU countries, ie, what did it cost you, or a relative to tax your landy in whatever EU country you/they resided in, just so as I can drive myself a little more crazy?

A few world wide comparators back in 2010 for the Maserati Granturismo..........form the sportmaserati forum

Just gleaning a few figures .......maybe those in other countries can fill in the gaps.....also if you can quote a ball park figure for annual and major services ( in USD if possible!)

Australia - approx $ 280,000

Korea - $ 240,000

Hong Kong - $200,000

Germany - $190,000

Japan - $160,000

Saudi Arabia - $160,000 ( fully loaded!)

USA - GT-S model $135,000
