just a few questions guys:

looking at doing the timing belt next week, never done one before so getting my mechanic friend to help me with it.

- question do i need the full kit (£40+vat) or just the belt (£8+vat) just a bit skint thats all so if full kit its not necessary it means i can spend the money elsewhere.
- do i need to do water pump at the same time? (haynes manuals havent arrived yet for me to check).

- door trim, i need to replace all the door trim, what do people use to hold it in with, when i removed it from the vehicle in the scrappy it was a strong double sided tape, can anyone recommend a good one as dont want them falling off.

- lastly, the rear boot door rubs bad on the bumper when i open the boot. it doesnt appear to have sagged on the hinges or anything so trying to figure out if it is perhaps the bumper that has moved up a bit? is this a common thing on these.

Go for the kit- it's an arse to do so you might as well while you're in there.
Door trims held on with plastic push lugs- they break easy -probably why the panels you have were held on with tape. New lugs/ clips are available from landy parts suppliers or ebay.
Back door hinges may look fine but they adjust from the inside. take interior panel off find the bollts that hold them to the inside of the door, loosen and lift the door a little till your happy (tighten em up after tho, eh?). Either that or your bumpers badly adjusted or been bended... the 'step should be horizontal..

I am only missing 1 piece of trim on the rear passanger door, though mine is the early 300tdi and the trim is thin. I got trim from a later 300tdi and it was thickier which is why i need to replace it all now so it matches.
I can see the lugs for holes in my doors but on the one i removed the thicker trim from every bit was stuck on even the front wing bits? will it still go on with lugs

check your rear body mounts under the rear cross member, if they have corroded and dropped that will stop the back door opening properly as the body will have dropped a little whilst the bumper is attached to the chassis, does the arse end look lowat all, that was what prompted me to have a look at mine and they had collapsed dropping the rear by about 40mm i think.

Got to do all my belts on my newly acquired Disco next week. I bought a dayco timing belt kit today from jgs 4x4. Was £50 odd quid, plus got the crank oil seals. IMO it's one of those things you don't want to skimp on. I second the checking of the mounts and crossmember if your door is rubbing. Good luck with the belt change. Hope it goes smoothly.
