Ere Nige.........

If you get the go ahead to remove the tree, let me know, and I will join you with my chain saw, can fill in those ruts with the branches as well, could make a day of it then.....

Dave, you had a look at Blue Bell Hill yet???

I,ll have another word with the Council on Tuesday mate...But i cant for the life of me remember what that area is called...Have to look it up me thinks.....You can bet your life the Council wont know or be able to find my request to clear for em...Bless em.....I did notice that a couple of the ones we did earlier had more branches pulled OVER the byways...Ramblers bless em...:D :D :D

My apologies to Griffy (hows the missus by the way) for continuing the thread, but I would like to clear a few points up and chuck some more bits into the discussion, after all that’s the beauty of forums.

1. My first post on this thread wasn’t a **** take. It was a tongue in cheek way of, without being condescending or patronizing, expressing my concern on the state of the lanes in the photographs. Which using the evidence given in the photos’, in my opinion looked rather worse for wear and should have probably been avoided.

2. My post was neither insulting nor offensive unlike the posts after it from Donk, what would he have done if it had been him on the receiving end of the insults? He then goes on to say he wonders why people come on here if only to abuse people and wind them up, all the abuse and winding up has come from him.

3. I am not in the habit of PMing people at all let alone to explain the mood of my posts. If you look at my signature the “no offence intended” bit should give you a clue. I do not set out to rub people up the wrong way, if they took the time to read my posts and not jump to conclusions they would realize this.

4. I am a regular offroader and greenlaner. I am (for better or worse) a member of GLASS and regularly attend the meetings. So I have got a life if that’s what you consider a life, and do get out a bit.

5. Face to face it would be a different story though it’s not me that’s being brave and hiding behind my keyboard, I believe that if we had this conversation face to face Donks replies would have been different and wouldn’t have been as insulting.

6. Coddy if you want experience in greenlaning, Then a good way to go about it is to go on pay and play days where you can drive on all manner of terrains safely and with the knowledge that if you get properly stuck there's an army of people that will be delighted to pull you out. Also if you haven’t found it already the difflock website has loads of info on off road driving.

Got loads more lanes too explore Codbasher so keep in touch my friend...You,ll get all the experience you need from these and they dont cost like the pay/play days that are run by Hitlerites that are given a little power and it goes to there heads ...Least when you come out with me it aint gonna cost you anything eh?? Well maybe a tyre..:D :D Sorry mate, could,nt resist that...:D :D

taken from mondo's link:

•Mud: whether this is environmental damage is questionable but there is plenty of it where walkers, cattle, cyclists or horses go, not just vehicles. Where it becomes ‘damage’ is the point at which any metalling (many green lanes have a stone ‘surface’ hidden below the grass or earth) is disturbed. Another test is whether it will grow over if left for a few weeks.

from your pics donk i would say that the quagmire in question would not "grow over if left for a few weeks".

especially if you keep driving it every weekend.

now will you lot exchange emails and get on MSN so we can have the greenlaning section back and maybe i will get someone to join me on my gloustershire adventures :) whic may i remind viewers, i do not drive every week.

G

Hippocrite!

A question.......

If some of you frown on greenlaning when its wet etc, and i can understand your point.

Why do the mags never say, dont do this run if its wet, all they seem to say is, deep ruts with water, take care after rain, etc etc. Surely if its wet, then the mags should set an example and say avoid laning until lanes are dry....

May be a daft question, but as a novice I want to ask it.....

Some lanes are used by farm traffic all year round and therefore get rutted and muddy in winter. In this case I think it's OK to use them.
Otherwise, don't be the one to rip them up - just use your common sense and don't spoil them for other users.

I,ll tell you why mate...Its the same on the land rover UKforum!!!!!
There,s certain Idiots on there,as on here, that are not true 4x4 fans/enthusiasts, and probably aint even got a Land Rover or any 4x4..They are just on there as they are on here to wind people up... There,s one thats posted a thread on this one that has a pop at ME and insinuates i drive the greenlanes every week...THEN advertises a Greenlane run for 31st December...What a Hyppocrite!!!....Thats what certain sites are like...Thats why i gave you the address of that other one...Been on there all day and not one slaggin off or sarcastic or hyppocritical remark yet..Just friendliness and helpfullness which i believe is what a forum should be all about...:D

i aint being funny here donk but if thats how you feel about landyzone and you have found another site where you like, why have you come back on here

Coz there are some on here, that i think are genuine enthusiasts ,and decent educated people who are genuinly helpfull and knowledgable.
Not just wind up, sarcastic twits.. LIKE YOU .:D

Theres no such thing as a daft question Coddy old chap. If you don't ask, you don't get to know the answer. Simple as that mate. The mags do set a reasonable example as in do's and dont's. Best advice I can give you is go to the council offices and view the deffinitive map for the area that you intend to drive and see whats restricted and what isn't. I personally prefer to drive in organised events (whether they be play day or club events) this way I have organised assistance if needed and there's always a tow home if you need it !!!!!!.
On top of this I know that it's all kosher and above board.

Legislation has changed so much regarding greenlaning recently.

Regards WP.
