Hi all I'm new to this but need some advise please

Hi all I've just brought a disco 2 auto and have a problem I hope someone can help with. When im driving it feels like the gears are dropping back so it revs high and it also sounds like the engine is missing i got it cheapish so don't mind spending a little on it really hope someone can help ive been told it could be the gearbox oil but dont want to get it changed on one persons say so.

I'd try the engine oil. Also have look round engine bay while running and have a litfle test of everything!

the engine oil is fine it ad a recon fitted in 2010 also a recon box 6 months ago its only done 5600 mile since 2010 i will have a look around the engine bay in the morning thanks

Mine had an ignition issue causing me to use more throttle causing it to down shift. Check all plugs - leads - coil - amplifier to sort missfire that may solve box issue. Someone with much more knowledge skill and experience will be along soon

Right just an update I managed to find a pipe that had come loose so I've now put pipe clips on and I've checked the ht leads and found one is faulty so they will be replaced tomorrow fingers crossed this sorts the problem out

Right maybe someone can help I went to get a new set of HT leads for my disco 2 4.0 V8 on LPG on a 2000 when I got them home I found they were the wrong ones so took them back only to be told there was only one set for my car listed I tried to explain with one of my leads in my hand there can't be. The leads I was given had a plastic part sticking out where it goes into the coil pack but the ones I have on mine are flush with the rubber and have a white ring on I've had to buy a set online but can anyone tell me why every shop I went in I got looked at as if I was mad.
