and second rear quarter

I shan't be doing anything about the damaged areas other than making sure they arent water traps for corrosion.

and does anyone know how to stop these bits flapping out when i drive?

So what do you think?

I am not intending to 'restore' it rather just tidy it up and enjoy it.

Jobs to do this year are:
1. fluid/filters and cambelt
2. proper good wash, and chassis protection
3. paint the rear tub and interior (outside is actually ok)
4. more comfortable seats
5. new windscreen rubber!
6. Replace the almost worn through top rad hose.
7. replace front diff pinion oil seal
8. check breathers are clear

Most of that will be done in the next week, but the pain and chassis stuff can wait till the summer.

Cambelt, rad hose and coolant change tomorrow, oils and filters the day after, today i greased all the UJ's and props and fitted new wiper blades and tax disc holder, then domestic duties called!

Ok sorted out the ratty dash today

Went from this

Also gave the interior a bit of a clean (after the photo) and wiped over every surface.

Found a 5p sized rust hole in the drivers footwell, and the windscreen wiper motor housing has rusted away at the bottom so those have been added to the to-do list.

Today i cut out all the shoddy tilt rope and cord and replaced it with nice 8mm bungee cord to make getting the top on and off that bit quicker.
this is what i removed!

Also sorted out the top rad hose that wore a hole by rubbing on the air filter housing rim, after refitting and making sure everything was correctly mounted the hose didnt touch but was only a couple of mil away so I ground out a section of the air filter housing to give extra clearance so it doesnt split the hose again.

This is what i did

Sprayed it up with rust sealer to stop it going nasty and to seal it, and bingo loads of clearance!

Quite pleased.

Cheers guys did a 70mile round trip today and it didn't skip a beat. On the way home I stopped and jet washed the chassis for 15mins - all this rain made the solidified mud nice and wet and it blasted right out. Didn't find any issues I didn't already know about and chassis looks nice:)

It's all in the garage strung up like a tent to dry it now!!

put em on the dash, I love a bit of "history" in vehicles with a working past.
trying to get hold of some photos of my fender atm, spent the first 10 yrs as a working vehicle on an estate in scotland.

Yep I am, going to drill small holes through the bases and hang them from the rear view mirror in a nod to the vehicles past. My other half thinks I am nuts…

Nice.. but be prepared for the odd passing plod, (or worse RMP if you're in a Military town) to have a word. It's an offence to take blank/live rounds and pyro, or parts thereof, off training areas--even unintentionally.

It's a military offence not a civilian one and its perfectly legal for a civvie to be in possession of spent blank cartridge cases. The offence is in removing unfired rounds.

You can buy blank shell cases at all sorts of gift shops as key rings etc.
