Hi guys

Thanks for all the replies and comments on this thread, glad u guys like and even happier its inspired you guys to DIY & not spend £££ on new/replacement which are just going to end up the same!

I just got a full 110 headlining -sunroof type- from eBay (is in well used condition but not bad at all structually with no damage to the panels, just needs a recovering)

since i only paid £20 for the 3 panels and I only need the rear panel so if any of you guys want the front & middle panels they are going free! -Pm me ;)

heres the rear panel i just finished covering;

I kno they do a dark grey like in the pic of the rear window surround at the start of this thread, think they call it 'slate' but its a little thicker than the light grey fabric iv used on the roof panels so I don't know how it would do stretching round the contours.

Can you let us all know how the rubber sandwich works out as it sounds like a good idea!

thread resurrection!
I'm doing exaxtly the same thing at the moment (although using a slightly different material) and was wandering how you followed the countours of the headlining so well? Did you cut the material first and then glue it on or did you glue it and then trim up the edges?
Also did you glue it all in one go or just do a little bit of the headlining at a time?

Sorry for all the questions! But i've never done anything like this and don't want to mess it up lol!

Oh the irony. Was about to say I have all the bits to do mine now.

17 camping mats. Good thick ones. Will be doubling them up on roof. £5

I have 80mx5ft of forest green waterproof raincoat fabric £20. Which will be glued to and then tucked into edges.

Will therefore have my old headlining to sell. The back is of a 90 county and will clean it up as not too bad ( mine doesn't have alpines so dunno why it was fitted.)

Front is sagging but will sort and clean.

Mines going to look proper plush

Me too, got some camping mats that i'll stick up there and then probably coat them in car carpet. Should be fine i hope :)

Yeah. I am doubling mine up so nearly 20mm thick so when I glue the fabric up I can just tuck the edges in nice and neat. Will need a reasonable sunny day so glue goes off nice and quick

Well ordered the materila, got my self a set of defender headliners frt and rear , start on it next week :)

Has anyone come across some suitable adhesive you can get from local shops?

I tried asking in B+Q for which of their glues was heat proof, but the sales person told me that none of their glues could be boiled....nevermind
