Guys,

Help! I have the Landy itch badly!

Today i find myself back in the parents 110 with a busy weekend of hauling my old concrete floor and fair amount of subsoil about, while the whole time wishing i had my own Landy!

But will the novelty wear off when the DIY dries up and my only justification (to myself) for owning one is to muck about in and go fishing every so often?

Fuel will cost an extra £20/wk which isn't a huge amount, but it isn't negligible either!

I can't stop looking at coniston green hard top 90's (200/300tdi)!!!

Now can i trust you lot to be completely unbiased and resist from taking the ****!!? :D

Tom

I just knew I could get a fair and balanced set of opinions!

Will a 90 hard top 200/300tdi drive much differently to a 110TD pick up?

I find the 19j so slow on hills I think it would do my nut :(

Tom

Do it !! I was in the same boat as you last year and picked up a 1993 200tdi. It's not about the speed but the pleasure of the drive and the countless weekends lying on a cold concrete drive underneath it. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm not obsessed with speed, just hate that feeling of getting slower, and slower and slower on single carriageway hills with traffic piling up behind me... By the sounds of it though the tdi is much better than the td.

I've been looking over lunch, and although there is one or two i like the look of there is nothing anywhere near me (SW) that matches what i'm after, but i'm in no hurry. In fact i need to hang on while i fix the leccy window in the golf before i can move on.

Cheers
Tom

Scratch it... but be warned you'll get more itches: the AT tyre itch... the rock slider itch....etc...

As long as you have another car or another way to get to work and prepared to get your hands dirty. I drive a 1989 200tdi 110 and i spend more time under it then i do in it. but i do quite a considerable amount of off roading and it's done 250k.
But i still love it.

....and I would've fallen for this itch, but for one thing....

....fitting big tyres, shiney new Warn winches and banks of lights etc makes your LR more likely to get noticed and more likely to get nicked.

My 90 is a minter - regularly serviced, greased, coated and generally looked after. But it remains gloriously dull to behold. Maybe.....just maybe....I'll be able to hold on to her.

Only time will tell.

If they want it they'll have it so you might as well do it the way you want it.

Sometimes I miss my 90, OP if you have the itch then scratch it and yes the tdi's are noticeably different to the td engines

I know! :) But that said, I really want a totally standard 90 - I just love how they look

I'd have to sell the golf to buy one, so unless i could pinch the wifes car i'd be in landy 150 miles a week...

I'd use a Disklok, and also look for somewhere to hide a sneaky ignition switch (to slow them up!)

get a fender soft lad
Do you mean a gaylander or a soft top defender?

Thanks, I am actively looking :)

Best, funnest to drive, coolest vehicle I have ever owned.

Bought one and shipped it all the way to The Bahamas, cost a frikin fortune and worth every penny.
Whatever breaks I get fixed, parts are cheap compared to American, Jap and Korean parts here.

If anything happened to her I would go to the bank and get another one.

I got one on a half wim and although its cost me a fortune and I've ruined almost all my mums towels it was worth it
